Japan's automakers focus on weight loss, one ounce at a time {Autoblog}
Jul 7th 2008 8:11PM Wouldn't that be one gram at a time?
Weak June has Toyota reviewing U.S. ops {Autoblog}
Jul 5th 2008 6:15PM Toyota has a full stable of small- to medium-sized cars elsewhere in the world that they would do well to start bringing over. Kei cars are out of the question, but there is no reason why things like the Isis, Corolla Fielder, Ractis and Rush can't be sold here.
Also, Scion screwed the pooch by bloating the xB. Had they brought over the bB again as the xB - and limited the engine size to 1.8L - maybe they wouldn't be languishing on lots now.

Jul 3rd 2008 12:13PM I want to know how they're going to possibly save 500 lbs. Is the thing going to ship sans doors and trunk?
Toyota adds 5-door Yaris to U.S. lineup {Autoblog}
Jul 1st 2008 1:11PM At nearly $5 a gallon, Americans are less concerned with 'looks' and more concerned with 'being able to afford food'.
Toyota adds 5-door Yaris to U.S. lineup {Autoblog}
Jul 1st 2008 10:47AM The Fit definitely looks (and drives) better, but Honda refuses to send enough of them to America to meet demand.
I always assumed the reason the 5-door wasn't offered here was because of the Scion xA/xD. Now we'll get to see which one sells better - the Scion with its better equipment, or the Yaris with its lower base price and better mileage.
Toyota buys another chunk of FHI, Subaru {Autoblog}
Jun 27th 2008 5:40PM The Impreza/WRX was signed off on long before Toyota entered the picture. And the first lovechild of the two is going to be the Impreza Coupe/Celica, which although we won't see the Toyota version in the U.S., looks to be far more interesting than anything Toyota's been able to manage on their own for at least a decade.
Gauntlet thrown: Corvette ZR1 laps the 'Ring in 7:26.4 {Autoblog}
Jun 27th 2008 12:29PM At $30k+ more than the GT-R, I would *hope* that it could lap the ring faster.
Subaru Exiga: Up close and personal {Autoblog}
Jun 25th 2008 4:45PM I would buy this in a heartbeat. Unfortunately it's not here yet - if ever - and I'm in the market for a four cylinder 6-or-7-seater-in-a-pinch *now*. Looks like I'm hitting up the Mazda and Kia dealerships this summer.

Jun 8th 2008 10:33AM "But the Miata can't seat five."
Neither can the Yaris, unless you're all from Oz.
Also, the Canadians get a five door model; I'm guessing we don't because it would cannibalize sales of the xD.

Jun 4th 2008 3:30PM Mitsubishi doesn't have the money to put metal pedals in their cars. I highly doubt they can develop a whole new body style at the drop of the hat.
(that said, the new Lancer hatch coming next year looks absolutely stunning)
