Vintage cassette tape holds Apple I BASIC, killer modem tune {Engadget}
Jul 19th 2008 6:31PM When I was a kid, i remember using casettes to load & save programs on my TI-99/4A before I had a disk drive. There is a huge amount of nostalgia to me in hearing your data whizzing by. Sadly, in the grand picture of computer nostalgia, cassette data storage seems to be a long forgotten footnote. Right now I'm trying to compile various WAV & mp3 files of programs from various systems to hear the differences. Tough work.
Mobile Edge intros TSA-approved ScanFast laptop bags {Engadget}

Celio's REDFLY gets unboxed on video, doesn't remind us at all of the Foleo, seriously {Engadget}
Jul 16th 2008 12:42PM Can we please stop with the unboxing videos/photo sets? They really say nothing about the product and moreso about the dull packaging. It's what's inside that counts.
I love the VGA connector on back. I always carry a 17 inch CRT monitor in my pocket when I'm on the go.
Go and let Celio fail on a product that even Palm realized was an incredibly poor choice, especially in this world of the EEE pc(and its competitors).
Toyota cuts global sales target to 9.5M vehicles {Autoblog}
Jul 16th 2008 12:33PM There is a point where a car company has sold so many vehicles that they can't sell anymore. It's not like people buy bundles of vehicles.
Lutz: No Beat for the U.S., smaller CUVs on the way, Insignia stalled {Autoblog}
Jul 15th 2008 2:37PM let's hope the shareholders are as loud as you, and hold another vote: ie vote Bob Lutz out.
Years from now we will read about GM holding the "voting contest" for a new car in the US, only to deliver it anywhere BUT the US. Bad PR move.
Lutz: No Beat for the U.S., smaller CUVs on the way, Insignia stalled {Autoblog}
Jul 15th 2008 12:56PM Sooo an American company makes a subcompact that doesn't meet US crash regs, and is sold overseas...
..and...
same company markets a foreign rebadge subcompact car that isn't so wonderful(Aveo)? Yay outsourcing!
...in...
...a country that is in deseprate need of more fuel efficient cars, and less monster SUVs?
I honestly don't understand why he's even working at GM. Yes, selling Hummer is a good move. The Beat decision though is incredibly stupid.
No wonder foreign cars in the US are so popular. Hmm, when's that next gen Prius coming out? Toyota obviously wants my dollar.
Microchip breakthrough could keep Moore's law intact (again) {Engadget}
Jul 11th 2008 12:21PM And uh, what does this have to do with the IPhone? AHH, next gen iPhones could be faster. Got it.
Multi-platform console mod defies practicality, in a good way {Engadget}
Jul 9th 2008 2:27PM I have a OneStation(like a GB micro) that has the same principle. The CPU for the console is on the cartridge, as well as the games.
Japan's automakers focus on weight loss, one ounce at a time {Autoblog}
Jul 7th 2008 8:47PM I could see a ton of work being done in engineering for weight reduction. Take it down to the tiniest detail without compromising safety,etc. If company A is selling a lightbulb, but company B is selling one just as good(but a few grams lighter), go with B. Repeat for the same process on all 3rd party-supplied parts.
Time to start delivering a bunch of scales to the R&D department.

Jul 7th 2008 1:51PM 47 grand? I would be laughing at the dealer if I was quoted that. For 47 grand(and I wanted a luxury car), I would probably go for something BMW or Mercedes at that price point, maybe even save a few grand(for maintenance costs later) on the car's price.
The rear seats look like they have as much legroom as an econobox. Not paying 47K for that.
