GM scores 4 of 6 finalists in North American OTY awards {Autoblog}

Dec 12th 2007 4:53PM It is so wierd, I am beginning to like GM vehicles. Saturns actually look and feel very nice, now Chevy Camaro and Malibu. Who would have thought? In 2-3 decades GM hasn't created anything worth looking at (besides Corvette, of course), an now it just shines.

Dodge in danger of losing #1 minivan title {Autoblog}

Dec 10th 2007 3:53PM Have to agree with you. I am a die-hard Caravan owner, but the latest iteration of such is simply ugly. Dodge spent 6 years designing that car, and all they could do is a face-lift on a 1994 design.

Arguably, Honda is by far the best-looking minivan on the market. At that is enough to convince me re-thinking buying another Caravan.

I will buy another Caravan, however, if I know that every single person involved in its design, including VPs and SVPs who approved it, was fired with no severance package.

Dec 10th 2007 3:12PM $50 grand for a Mustang? For that much money it should come with Cheney, Rice and Rumsfeld in the back, Mr. President in the passenger seat and Osama + Saddam in the trunk.

Dec 10th 2007 2:42PM Personally, I love how Honda looks. I love it's interior. I love it's quality. I love it's driving characteristics.

However, Dodge turns out to be $150/month cheaper to lease, offering the same or better features. Yeah, it's not as beautiful, not as nicely done inside, not as reliable (although I never had any issues with leased Caravans). But for a simple family hauler you don't really look for the coolest car on the block, and extra $10K in your pocket after 4 year lease do make a difference at the end. (10K = $7,200 lease savings, and $2,800 insurance and maintenance savings)

Dec 10th 2007 2:06PM My family and relatives drove Caravans for as long as I remember. Yeah, one had a transmission problem, with 300,000 km on the odometer.

The rest 5 or 6 vehicles ran with no major issues for over 200,000 km each. Minor issues like a burned-out light or a couple of dysfunctional sensors over the lifetime of Caravan don't count.

Dec 10th 2007 2:00PM The only big issue with Dodge is that it doesn't look nice. For some weird reason Dodge simply recycled '94 design.

However, it still offers the best bang for a buck. You can get a new Dodge for $24K vs. $36K for a similarly equipped Honda. Yeah, it will lose 50% of its value in 4 years, which translates into $12K loss. Now, if the same loss was added to Honda it will be only 30%, but in terms of $$$ it's the same amount.

Personally, if 4-year old Honda holds it's value so nicely, I still feel it is stupid to choose a 4-year-old minivan over similarly priced brand-new one.

Sticking to its consonants: Lincoln to continue alphabet soup {Autoblog}

Dec 10th 2007 11:37AM The struggle to name the cars is a clear representation of the brand strategy - no such thing.

While Cadillac manage to revive itself as a luxury brand, Lincoln remains a re-branded Ford for 80+ year old drivers.

Given there is no thoughtful strategy within Ford, I don't think it's going to change in the nearest future. Lincoln name will be associated with re-branded Ford (which in itself is far from being called even a decent-looking car) with poorly re-designed tasteless grill at $15-20K premium.

Dec 3rd 2007 4:30PM While the front of it looks nice, the rear was done very hasty and on a tight budget. Looks ugly, cheap and unfinished.

This time the report has fewer errors but still:
Mitsubishi - UP 13.8% at 7,983 from 9,256 last year
