Hyundai Santa Fe to get four-cylinder in 2010 {Autoblog}

Jul 7th 2008 2:43PM I don't mind the Santa Fe... it looks more like a dimestore Porsche Cayenne than anything from Subaru (mostly referring to the side profile, anyway).

I suppose it looks a bit like the new Forester (whose design it predates) but nothing like the old boxy one.

Regardless, it's not a bad little family-hauler... if they added in a 5-speed stick to make up for the lack of power in the 4 cylinder, they'd have a winner. The old Mitsubishi Outlander had a 2.4L 4 banger + manual version that I really wanted; unfortunately they ditched it when they went to the new one.

Nissan presentation previews RWD sports coupe {Autoblog}

Jun 6th 2008 6:58PM The Japanese text says "This is that sports coupe"... in Japan I've never heard any ambiguity as to what "coupe" means; it's always a two-door. (I've never looked into what the Mercedes CLS is called though, mind you...)

I think it just has a slightly longer greenhouse and what looks like a C-pillar may actually be a funky reflection (which would be admittedly odd as photos usually would airbrush that out)... be interesting to see though.

Spy Shots: 2009 Ford Harley-Davidson F-450 {Autoblog}

May 30th 2008 5:55AM I've seen one of the previous models pulling out of the lot of the high-end condos near us... I think the driver was a professional athlete (probably hockey player), so there's your market right there. (ie. Guys who want the biggest baddest truck more than they want something like a Porsche, given the same amount of money...)

May 16th 2008 3:15PM Glenn is absolutely right... half of Best Car's stuff is pure speculative fiction.

iPhone firmware 2.0 adds Chinese handwriting recognition, Newton sweats {Engadget}

May 5th 2008 4:46PM The Japanese character recognition is what interests me... I think they're doing it so they can push out the 3G iPhone in Japan finally. The previous firmware (at least in the Japanese iPod Touch) made you type stuff in romanized Japanese then convert, similar how to Japanese is entered on a computer keyboard, but now they've converted it to a syllabic method more similar to how cell phone keypads work, which is a superior method for a mobile device...

It's the limo from now on: Nickleback singer gets driving ban {Autoblog}

May 3rd 2008 7:39PM Please fix the error in this article... Chad Kroeger is not a "singer". :)

Apr 28th 2008 12:27PM Here's a simple rule regarding stuff that appears in Best Car (and I say this out of love as a long time fan of the magazine): "If it's not a photo, it's b***s***." :)

Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart Version R Special: Now with SUPER STIFFNESS {Autoblog}

Apr 24th 2008 1:12PM I checked this car out at the Tokyo Motor show and loved it... the interior was way more roomy than the Fit (bigger than a Versa, even, I think) and the car looked great, if not a little too obviously "boy-racer".

This is also the chassis that underpins the Smart ForFour in Europe apparently, and Mitsubishi Canada was talking about importing the next version (that will be designed to meet crash standards in North America) so maybe the US will get lucky as well.

Pininfarina tapped to style 3 concepts debuting in Beijing {Autoblog}

Apr 17th 2008 2:11AM No way... if you read the news, the way things are going, Chinese factories will be outsourcing their production to the US to save money building the cars their US-educated engineers design.
