Say Cheese! Speed cameras officially go operational in Scottsdale {Autoblog}

Feb 24th 2006 10:17AM Source1 -- I have news for you: you don't have a right to speed. Ten MPH over is actually quite generous. The ACLU has better things to do, like keeping your religious preferences out of my face.

Feb 13th 2006 8:13PM I agree with Ray on this one. This whole thing is as much a "medical system" issue as an auto industry one.

GM's SUV gamble: So far, so good {Autoblog}

Feb 10th 2006 7:12PM *sniff* Geez, you guys make me feel a little bit better lol

Lithous - there does seem to be a lot of doom-and-gloom these days. I'm skeptical about the US economy's [and GM's] imminent demise. I recall hearing the same thing as a high school student in the 1970s -- "America doesn't make anything anymore - our neighbor just bought a Japanese TV", and so on. The reason given, back then, was that American products were crap. But the country didn't collapse, and since those days I've learned to admire American resilience. Some people do indeed seem to desire the downfall of GM, etc., and I sometimes think that they're getting frustrated heheh....as for the EU, well, they do seem to be taking their time getting revved up.
RossL - my three growing sons are the main reason for my imminent large SUV purchase. You are correct that a minivan would be better -- but I also want to tow things, too, and am a little worried about the "toughness" of the minivans. And I live in the SF Bay area and see plenty of examples of what you are talking about -- solo commuters in Hummers and Excursions and so on.
Maybe a Suburban Hybrid would make sense?

Feb 10th 2006 3:35PM So, Paul....I'm assuming you have some suggestions for a large family vehicle? I'm not trying to be sarcastic, I'm really curious about what you think I should buy [I have three boys]? You criticize this vehicle for its "sheer size". Is that the main problem with it?

"Only" three kids?? What else is she supposed to drive? I also have three kids and am looking for a new vehicle. It's darn near illegal for me do drive anyting other than a heavily armored tank. Where do the carseats go? All in one row? Kids aren't allowed to sit in the front seat.
Anyway, I'll be purchasing my new '06 Suburban soon, and I'll try to avoid you at Target lol.
