Feb 8th 2006 9:23PM GM has had several years to fix its self-inflicted woes.
It made conscious decisions to build poor-quality automobiles, not plan for its future, not listen to consumers, and not learn to work hand-in-hand with the UAW.
Ford appears at least to be making strides in stopping its own bleeding. Any month now, Toyota will pass General Motors as the #1 automaker, and the executives, designers, and engineers of GM are going to wind up unemployed and still be wondering what happened.
All because they refused to listen to us, the "little people" who used to buy their cars, but instead choose now to buy superior products from Japan and Korea.
