Faster than an M5: First Cadillac CTS-V performance test published {Autoblog}
Aug 26th 2008 1:13PM As someone who actually owns an 08 CTS bought last November, and has many friends that drive BMWs, Mercedes, etc., I've ridden and driven most if not all the cars discussed on this thread. Bottom line: The CTS interior is fabulous and functional. Your cliches about GM interiors are utterly misfounded. Drive a CTS for a while, and you'll realize exactly how well thought out the controls are. My very first GM product, but one of the best cars I've ever owned (and I buy a new one every two years).
European hunting season cancelled: Cadillac CTS-V not crossing Atlantic {Autoblog}
Jul 14th 2008 10:47AM Although it was a ways back in the thread, those who that the CTS's interior materials are inferior and that it has a poorly designed center stack obviously haven't been in one. I've driven them all in the class -- 3 series (yes, I know, but I haven't driven a 5 series recently), A4, C class, and g35 among them -- and the CTS interior is as good or better than any of them. The center stack of the CTS is practically a work of art -- both beautiful and artfully functional.
Disclaimer: after driving all of the aforementioned cars, I bought a loaded CTS. I had never owned a GM product -- ever (and all my friends drive BMWs and Audis, so I had some peer pressure to deal with) -- but this car stunned me.
VIDEO: Garage419 split-screens the ZR-1 and GT-R 'Ring laps {Autoblog}
Jul 11th 2008 1:39PM Saying that we aren't comparing the right cars is weak. The question is, which production car has the fasted ring time. In this case, the answer: ZR-1.
You want to ask which production car with a low MRSP has the fastest ring time. That is a different question. And requires qualitative analysis. And relies on the expectation of an unreleased model about which we know too little to even consider a qualitative analysis.
At this time, the conclusion is absolutely crystal clear. The CURRENT winner is the ZR-1. Period.

Jan 29th 2007 1:28PM Unless you've driven this car, you should keep your mouth shut. I've driven it, and it is quite possibly the most complete automobile I've ever driven. It does what it is intended to do very, very well, and that is why there are no criticisms in this article. Go drive it, and then open your yap.
2007 Chevrolet Tahoe LT: In the Autoblog Garage Day 5 {Autoblog}
Apr 7th 2006 12:56PM The endless debates from the SUV-haters and SUV-lovers are hysterical. It's real simple: (1) Some people really need to tow heavy loads (e.g., they own a sizeable boat or a horse trailer, or whatever) and move multiple people around, and (2) some people need to move multiple people around but don't need to tow anything. For those in category one, the Tahoe makes a lot of sense. For those in category two, it doesn't. Simple. Get over it. Buy the vehicle YOU need and quit telling your neighbors what they need to be driving.
Chicago Auto Show: GM introduces the 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche {Autoblog}
Feb 8th 2006 6:59PM ## 11, 13: You obviously don't know anything at all about trucks and have never towed anything in your life. People will buy these types of trucks because they need to haul stuff. And when it comes to hauling stuff (boats, horse trailers, whatever), you need something with real power and a real frame, neither of which are possessed by the Ridgeline. Indeed, the Ridgeline isn't really a "truck" in the same sense as an Avalanche or an F-150. A Ridgeline is just a toy that can't satisfy the needs of a real truck customer. Regarding the transmission speeds, as somebody else noted above, when you are hauling 9,000 pounds, you don't want the transmission switching gears constantly to try and achieve maximum fuel economy. You need a heavy-duty transmission, and a 4 speed is just fine. So, young city-dwellers -- enjoy your minis. Leave the trucks to men who need them.
