New York '08 Preview: More Hyundai Genesis Coupe pics come online {Autoblog}

Mar 17th 2008 9:25AM I actually like the lines, mostly because they are something new. They solve the problem of blind spots in the back. Too many cars have a waistline that keeps rising as it goes back, so that you can't see out the rear. This car splits the line in two making the back windows bigger. It's akward but functional. It might be a new trend. At least it looks better than that sagging lower door crease on the BMW 1 series.

Amidst the loss trimming, Ford revises Volvo's strategy {Autoblog}

Nov 11th 2007 3:15AM Ford's ownership of Volvo is sad, but sadder still is its mismanagement of Jaguar and Land Rover. Why in the world are Volvo and Land Rover using that weak 3.2L inline six when they can put the cheaper, more powerful, and more efficient 3.5L V-6 from America in those cars/trucks?
Hopefully, they're working on it. But they'd better do it soon, before they run out of time and money. I'm rooting for Ford, but I wouldn't bet a dime on their success.

Leakage: '09 Nissan Murano pics hit the forums {Autoblog}

Nov 9th 2007 1:36PM I agree with hoff. Why are so many cars and suvs using the upkink in the back. It's a reference to the Gremlin, which wasn't a great car. It doesn't really make it look faster. It only makes it impossible to park. Oh, it also gives rear seat passengers claustrophobia, also bad.

I did see that the Tribeca got rid of the Gremlin window. Subaru probably got a lot of complaints about it and changed it for the update. Why couldn't Nissan?

And what, exactly, is the point of Mercury? {Autoblog}

Jan 16th 2007 2:41PM Mercury needs to bring back its old emblem of the man with the winged hat. It looked so much better than the cheesy "M" from the eighties. Mercury is the God of Speed. FoMoCo needs to remember that. Let all the Mercuries be a little faster than their Ford counterparts. Tweak the engines be ten horsepower. Maybe offer manuals where Ford doesn't. They need to do something that relates to their name.
