Sorry Holden: GM cancels VE Sportwagon for US market {Autoblog}

Jan 17th 2008 11:37AM This is too bad....I would have been banging the dealer's doors down to trade my Mazda6 wagon for this!!

In the Autoblog Garage: 2008 Scion xB {Autoblog}

Oct 23rd 2007 4:07PM I, for one, think that having only the one giant reverse light on the left side would be a safety issue. Approaching the vehicle from the right side in a parking lot I don't think you would ever see the one reverse light if the car was backing out...shoot, it's hard to see it from the rear angle they took the pic at. There should definitely have been another reverse light on the right side. Better yet, why didn't they just put the reverse lights around the license plate area?? I guess that wouldn't have looked "hip" enough.

2008 Ford Fusion gets Sport Package {Autoblog}

Oct 4th 2007 3:58PM Wow, there is a lot of ignorance going on here. Horsepower is just one number....sure it's important, but it's the torque that really pulls the car. Leaving the Camry out of the equation for now since it has a 3.5L engine, lets look at the Accord's old 3.0L engine to compare apples to apples- 244hp, 211 lb-ft torque vs. Fusion's 221hp, 205 lb-ft torque. 23 more hp, but only 6 more lb-ft torque....their 0-60 times are pretty comparable too (7.0 sec Accord, 7.5 sec for Fusion, with automatics). I know that the Accord probably FEELS faster but it really isn't all that much. I'm saying all this because I have the Mazda6 with this engine in it and I see absolutely nothing wrong with it. It is PLENTY powerful and I have never had a problem keeping up with traffic, merging, even winning stoplight races (which wastes too much gas by the way). I also average 24 mpg with it in traffic and only fill it up every two weeks (with a 40 mile per day commute)!!! Sure it would be nice to have the D35 in the Fusion, but I too think that having 270 hp in a family sedan is asinine. It's way too much for these front-drive cars. Besides, looking at all 3 3.5L engines they are: Accord- 268hp, 248 lb-ft; Camry- 268hp, 248 lb-ft; Taurus- 263hp, 249 lb-ft. I think the Taurus is actually a more fitting competitor to the CamCords now because they have both gotten so huge (they are full size cars now).

End of the road for $25,000 luxury SUV tax loophole {Autoblog}

Jul 2nd 2007 3:10PM I can't tell you how many real estate agents I see around my neck of the woods driving Hummer H2's. Now, do they REALLY need to be driving around in something like that?? I think that's what closing this loophole is really intended to stop.....

Nissan releases pricing on 2008 Versa, from $12,550 {Autoblog Green}

Jun 27th 2007 7:44AM FYI.....Honda's Fit w/CVT also goes down to 27/34 with paddle shifts and 27/35 without them. Soooooo...there really isn't THAT much of a difference . Are you also going to call the Fit mileage "unimpressive"?? My guess is probably not.

Saturn Vue gets a $3k bump in the sticker {Autoblog}

Apr 30th 2007 2:13PM Honestly, I sat in the new CR-V at a car show last November and I was NOT impressed. My friend was with me that has an '03 CR-V and she was not impressed either. We both felt that the materials, while put together nicely, were not all that nice (hollow, hard, and too shiny). She was also disappointed that the rear seats were still flip-fold instead of fold-flat. You have to pull a cheap-looking strap on the top-back of the seats to flip them down, her uses a nice sturdy handle. The giant plastic silver interior grab handles used to close the doors are just cheesy! Very out of place in what is otherwise a classy interior (except aforementioned materials). That said, I don't think the Vue would have to try too hard to have an edge on the CR-V as it looks better outside and hopefully will have a nicer inside (from the pics I've seen).

Apr 25th 2007 10:35AM Ummmmm.... Rob, I don't think you interpreted DarkKnight's comment correctly. He meant "number two" as in "doo-doo", not ranking.

New York Auto Show: Lexus LX570 {Autoblog}

Apr 4th 2007 4:24PM Yuck! I don't understand where Toyota is coming up with their recent designs. None of them are appealing. This looks like a bloated RAV4 from the front and the side. The taillights are just god-awful, almost as bad as the Lincoln Navigator's. I'm sure all the rap stars/pro-athletes will love it though....

World Premiere of the new 2008 Mercedes-Benz C-Class {Autoblog}

Jan 18th 2007 4:51PM I thought it looked a lot like the Sebring too. But where the Sebring got trashed for the way it looks, this Mercedes is "sharply styled" (Autoweek). I actually happen to like the way the new Sebring looks. It's definitely not your typical generic-styled family sedan.
