NHTSA announces new CAFE standards through 2015 {Autoblog}
Apr 22nd 2008 5:49PM Bad Idea. Currently cars need to get 17% better fuel economy than light trucks. Now it will be 24% better fuel economy. In the end you still end up with fuel economy that isn't any better because sedans are replaced with crossovers.
Geneva 2008: Audi TT 2.0 TDI quattro {Autoblog}
Mar 4th 2008 8:34PM ok, this TT TDI is made for Europe. It gets 46% more MPGs than the gasoline 2.0T. This makes sense when you have gas prices that are about double what we have in the US. The diesel TT will cost a thousand or so more Euroes (in a 30,000 or so Euro car in Europe) and it makes total sense in Europe. It doesn't make sense in the Us, that's why it isn't coming here.
RED MENACE: Audi R8 TDI Le Mans infiltrates Geneva {Autoblog}
Mar 3rd 2008 11:58PM Motor Trend got the gas R8 to 60 in 3.9 seconds, others got 4.0 seconds, worst I have seen is 4.3. Audi quotes 4.6 seconds ot 100 kmph, it quotes 4.2 for the V12 TDI. That makes the V12 potentially in the middle 3 second range.

where did you get that? Europeans have a fuel economy test that all manufactureres use. You know that the EPA only tests 10-15% of all cars? The European test is different than the American test and is likely more realistic. The European test has lower city figures and higher highway figures. This TT would easily get 40-50 mpg on the highway in real life driving. Stop making up crap.
EPA seeks armistice in horsepower wars {Autoblog}
Jan 29th 2008 2:26PM NO.
The EPA doesn't care about the environment. They make no attempts at all to minimize green house emissions. Sure they pretend to do the right thing by putting a gas guzzler tax on the few cars sold that get poor fuel economy. BUT they ignore the 8 million vehicles sold each year with poor fuel economy.
This is why the average fuel economy has only gone up .4 of an mpg from 2000. From 19.8 MPG in 2000 to 20.2 MPG in 2007. The several thousand 620 horsepower Corvette ZR1s with poor fuel economy that Chevy sells are nothing compared to millions of vehicles that Chevy will sell with worse fuel economy during the same time.

Detroit R8: Deciphering the Audi V12 TDI {Autoblog}
Jan 15th 2008 6:25PM Of course you also get almost 50% more mpgs than a comparable gas engine.
Detroit R8: Deciphering the Audi V12 TDI {Autoblog}
Jan 15th 2008 6:17PM Sure it weighs more than a comparable gas engine, but the difference is probably no greater than taking a passanger for a ride.
