VIDEO: Nissan GT-R 7:29 'Ring run {Autoblog}
Jun 1st 2008 6:33PM Tad,
350Z was a dud? I see a lot more of them on the streets than RX-8's or S2K's. It'll also outpace either of those cars on a track with any appreciable straightaways. Sure it's no Corvette, but then it doesn't cost Corvette money either. I fail to see how this car qualifies as a dud. But if it's a dud in your mind, i'm sure the GT-R will be as well. The rest of the world on the other hand will be considering the GT-R something entirely different.

Teenfifteen: Your assertion that race cars are not AWD based on performance is false. The reason these cars are not AWD is because of the rules of the various racing bodies that sanction and control these events.
There are very few racing series's that allow multiple drivetrains, simply because it is too difficult to mitigate the rules and create competitive parity when one drivetrain dominates over another. The notable exception is the Speed touring car championship where car weight is closely moniotored and penatly weight is given to any car that is too fast. Still it's a great series, with AWD audi's RWD BMW's and FWD Mazda's all mixing it up together on the track.

First Blood: Ariel Atom 500 V8 {Autoblog}
Mar 2nd 2008 8:13PM Jordan, i'm sorry but you need to ease up a little bit. Stop pretending you know more than you do. The article does not state that supercharger is a roots type blower. and since when do V8's automatically have low end power? FYI this V8 rev's to 10,000RPM I'm gonna make a wild guess and say that most of that comes at the top end. Also turbocharger's dont "activate" they spool. I suggest you spend some time driving a couple of different turbocharged cars before you make blanket statements about them.
Rumormill: Subaru to build new Toyota Celica {Autoblog}
Feb 4th 2008 6:19PM Re: Toyota made some of the best performance engines of all time.
I distinctly remember pulling the engine on my old Celica all-trac and seeing the word "Yamaha" written on it.
By the way, I'd buy another one. As an owner of a 350Z I can't imagine the insurance would be that much worse.

Jan 29th 2008 7:44PM "If you wan't realisim there should be damage"
True. And any damage should pretty much make the cars undrivable.
Personally I take the "not sucking" approach while playing FM2 and any of the GT games. Dont touch ANYTHING and you dont have to worry about weather or not the game has damage modeling. That's what burnout paradise is for.
That said I think GT needs to revamp it's physics engine. It feels great up to and just beyond the limits of the tires. Exceed the limits too much and the cars understeer mercilessly and then spin. Just like GT4. GT3 had the best physics of all the gran turismo games, and it allowed for realistic drifting. Forza 2 is on a similar level.
