Geneva '08 Preview: 2009 Ford Fiesta is filled with Verve! {Autoblog}
Feb 14th 2008 8:24PM I prefer the looks of the Mazda 2, inside and out, over this, but applaud Ford for giving the US a shot at a small (presumably good handling, based on the 2) car like this. And it absolutely has to have a HATCH.
Pics (and VIDEO) Aplenty: Mazda Furai Concept {Autoblog}
Jan 13th 2008 11:14AM The analytical part of my brain says it's overwrought, that the sculpted panels mean more surface area which means more drag and that this design language could never translate to good looking production cars.
The lust center of my brain, however, is absolutely in love.
UK motorcyclists saved from being sliced in two by wire rope barriers {Autoblog}
Dec 28th 2007 9:19PM I have actually seen one of these catch an 18 wheeler here in MO. Don't know the speed, but it did the job of preventing it from reaching the opposing lanes.
I can see the hazards they could pose to motorcyclists unfortunate enough to encounter them, but I don't know that they're any more dangerous than other types of median barriers. Having ridden motorcycles myself (and no longer riding for safety concerns) I sympathize with the motorcyclists but also realize that it's not the safety barrier that's the potentially injurious factor here; it's the fact that motorcyclists are exposed and virtually unprotected.

Chrysler said to be planning wake for Magnum, Pacifica, PT Cruiser {Autoblog}
Oct 31st 2007 11:07AM When shots of the Magnum first hit the web, I was certain I'd be among the first in line to buy. I was attracted to the wagon utility, choice of RWD or AWD, and great looks (front end notwithstanding.) I was disheartened by the lack of a manual option, but considering I was in the minority I didn't have much room to complain.
Then I drove one.
I knew going in that costs were cut with the interior, but there was no way I could justify spending 2 and a half commuting hours a day in that penalty box. And it wasn't going to escape your field of vision, because the truncated greenhouse and thick pillars afforded about as much visibility as tank drivers get. And then there was the gas mileage.
I'll miss seeing them rolling new off dealer lots, but I won't miss driving one.
As for the PT, my wife has one. I don't particularly like it, but when we bought it (in 2001) it was the most attractive car in it's segment and all around better than the Matrix/Vibe, et al. It's lasted longer than the loan payback without any major problems, and was very competitively priced when new. I think it's time for Chrysler put it out to pasture, but I don't think it was an inherently bad car.
SEMA 2007: Chrysler SR 392 Roadster live shots {Autoblog}
Oct 30th 2007 9:44PM A homage to actual hot rods, as opposed to street rods. Love the belly-scrape low stance, simple lighting, and especially the tall skinnies. Well done Chrysler.
SEMA 2007: Pontiac Solstice SD-290 takes us back {Autoblog}
Oct 30th 2007 10:24AM Only slightly less practical than a stock Solstice.
Honestly though, this is what I like to see out of SEMA. Whimsical, evocative of the image the manufacturer is trying to build for the model (in the Solstice's case, sport), and unconventional. Good job GM
