2009 RAV4 gets refreshened, bigger base engine {Autoblog}
Aug 7th 2008 5:28PM Jonathan:
Might want to brush up on your car knowledge a tad, my friend. Indeed, a CUV might not differ much from an SUV, but they are, in fact, two entirely different classifications of vehicle.
CUVs are car-based, sacrificing most (if not, arguably, all) off-road capability for better road handling and fuel economy.
If you disagree, or don't like it, my apologies... you're only going to see MORE CUVs in the coming years, with gas still in the high three-dollar-per-gallon range. Which honestly makes sense... how many people that YOU know own SUVs and ACTUALLY off-road with them? Having better road handling and gas mileage is perfect for the vast majority of the market, who buy their CUVs solely for space/looks and not at all with the intent on traversing off the paven road.
MIA: The Autoblog Podcast {Autoblog}
Aug 1st 2008 7:25PM I'm honestly suprised that anybody would think a podcast is free to produce... some websites, such as Penny-Arcade, do so for free, but that's mostly to enrich their fanbase. With that being said, it doesn't cost them nearly as much to do their podcasts (they're recording conversations they'd already be having), and they don't have to report to AOL.
With that being said, I unfortunately haven't listened to many of the podcasts (my iPod died a few months back) and it's disappointing news, for sure, given that I'm actually getting my replacement iPod tonight when I get out of work. :(

Jul 26th 2008 6:06PM Are you completely blind?
If you hadn't noticed, Mullaly is doing more for Ford now than has been done in... forever with them. Wagoner is doing similar things for GM, albeit on smaller scale.
But it takes TIME to form a TURN-AROUND. It can't and won't happen over-night. Not now, and not later.
Heck, the only company that still seems somewhat "lost" on the idea of a turn-around is Chrysler, and that's only because that company a) is privately owned, and therefore doesn't seem as accountable for their mistakes and b) the steps they have chosen to TRY and improve things have mainly focused on trying to sell the crappy vehicles they already have, not make BETTER vehicles.
Step on the lot of a new Ford or GM dealer - almost all their stuff is new these days, especially Ford (granted they have a smaller network with fewer brands to work with, which helps). Most of is I would consider fairly decent/competative. And if you're going to spew your biased, Anti-Domestic rhetoric, take it elsewhere.

I JUST posted a comment similar to the first guy's (the one you're replying to) post, and I have to say that... I read this TO give something new a chance, and personally I'm not trying to attack them or anything. Just figured I'd clarify in the event my post is taken out of context. :)

Jul 26th 2008 3:01PM I absolutely love the AB (and recently the ABG) reviews, however I have to say that this review kind've feels forced - like you guys wanted to try something new, weren't entirely certain how to make it come out, and when they finally got something, they weren't properly able to emphasize the bike's high-points versus the fact that it isn't at all competitive in the upper end of the market.
I realize I know little about bikes, so perhaps my opinion is skewed, but I figured I'd share.
Otherwise, great writing all-around, and absolutely love the reviews, AND the fact that manufacturers and the community in general seems to be giving Autoblog so much more credibility, which I'm assuming is why there's a new First Drive/AB Garage every couple days (which makes work SO much more entertaining by the way!) :)
GM allows workers to offer discounts to everyone {Autoblog}
Jul 25th 2008 8:34PM If you're going to post a comment as ignorant as that, you really should provide a chapter or two as to how you figure it's truthful or accurate.
Why wouldn't somebody want a GM? They offer nice cars in nearly every segment, and often times for far cheaper than imports cost. They are also to own and maintain, not to mention the article I remember seeing (I think on Autoblog) saying the average wait time before being able to get in for scheduled service on a Camry is 3 weeks long... definately don't have that problem with domestics.
Not to mention the only people suggesting new GMs are "unreliable" is the obviously-biased Consumer Reports, and interior materials on new GM products meet or exceed their competition often.
But... considering that you've probably never owned a NEW car, let alone a NEW GM, you wouldn't know, would you? :(

First Drive: Maserati Quattroporte S in Europe {Autoblog}
Jul 25th 2008 7:02PM I was thinking the exact same thing. The side profile is very similar to a Lucerne, and the 3-tiered brake vents are near identical in design to those found on the Lucerne.
Although if it at all came down to a "who copied who" (and I'm not saying anybody did) I'm assuming Maserati had the design first. :P
GM's OnStar will track your annual mileage... but only for your benefit {Autoblog}
Jul 24th 2008 4:12PM _Jon:
GM already sends me service reminders all the time for my 2007 G6, which doesn't have OnStar. They also send me these same reminders for my 2006 Cobalt that I got rid of... two years ago?
Also, while GMAC Insurance's whole "we replace parts that were damaged in an accident with NEW parts" idea is pretty cool, GMAC is so ridiculously over-priced, I would never consider keeping them as an insurance carrier. So you're not doing that well by having the mileage tracking combined with GMAC Insurance to BEGIN with.
