Holden SS Thunder, SV6 Utes storm Australia {Autoblog}
Oct 13th 2006 5:16PM Let me get this straight. GM makes these things for the rest of the world and gives us that piece of crap SSR.
Figures.

Sep 19th 2006 1:24PM I want to see the video of that guys face when he saw this video. RC hit it right - he probably was totally unaware of the cliff. Helluva job.

Sep 11th 2006 1:49PM It's stock. The stereo system for the 50th had a small sub in the seat (we used to call it butt sonic). You can turn that on/up there on the lower center console. My favorite gauge was the digital g-force meter in the center of the dash.
I remember sending a pair of fairly expensive Pirelli's to an early grave with one of those 50th's...
VIDEO: Smart vs. Ferrari {Autoblog}
Sep 8th 2006 4:57PM Yea, that Ferrari driver showed once again that most (I said most, not all) exotic car buyers have more (family) money that sense. What was more impressive; the Smart's run, the complete lack of understanding about how to drive a car by the Ferrari, or the Ferrari's attempt to show us what really expensive pistons look like as they blow thru the hood?
On a side note, I think the Ferrari went through 10 or 12 gallons of fuel during that display while the Smart probably use, what, 3 or 4 cups? I think the also have the same luggage space!

Sep 8th 2006 11:43AM Not sure if the car is fast. It's probably an import with a fur-banger under the hood.....

Good lord.
Officially Official: 2007 Honda CR-V {Autoblog}
Sep 1st 2006 10:33AM Honda wins points for consistency. This indeed looks like a mini MDX. This is, of course, what all the manufacturers are doing - finding a set of design queues and using them across the fleet.
Ford with their bars, Chevy with their bowtie, Dodge with their grill, why is this any difference?
Funny to me how almost ALL the comments on this blog about a car center around how it looks. Considering that its women who usually look at form over function I find these comments to be interesting at best.
What makes this a great car or a dud? Is it the performance of the engine? Is it the 4WD system? The driving position? Handling? Fuel economy? Cargo capacity? Passenger confort? Safety?
Evidentally, no. Clearly the important thing is that men find the car attractive. So, while all the usual "design haters" on this site are driving in their old cars of yesteryear, looks like the women will all be purchaing new cars.
I areee with #3 - Honda will probably sell 150,000 of these things.
Carnegie Mellon and GM entering driverless Tahoe in next DARPA {Autoblog}
Sep 1st 2006 10:24AM Stanley rocks. The technology is incredibly impressive. Imagine a car that can watch your back when you stupidly attempt to drive into the wee hours of the morning only to fall asleep, cross the highway and kill a family in a head-on?
Or, perhaps you've been to happy hour and got a bit too happy? How handy would it be to just let the car take you safely home?
Most of the great technology we take for granted today appeared in the military first. Is this the next technology we will see as Standard (couldn't resist)?
We expect Artificial Intelligence in every other aspect of our lives (popcorn setting on the microwave, voice activated cell phones, voice activated phone menu systems, computer automation of every kind) so why not in our cars? Heck, even now we expect the car to come with an option to tell us exactly when to turn to get to our destination.
Do you guys think the pilot actually hands on flew the commuter jet you took on your last flight? Wouldn't you love to let the car handle the long booring drive across West Texas or New Mexico or any other stretch of highway?
Rock on, Red. Let's see what you can do in the Urban Challenge and go Stanley.

Jul 19th 2006 9:08AM I am very interested in seeing these triplets in person soon as they are nearing the top of my shopping list. Having said that, I am quite curious why they do not offer the V8 right out of the box? If they are going to the trouble of putting the (too long coming) 6 speed auto in this to improve gas mileage, why not couple that with the displacement on demand V8?
Personally, I'd sure hate to buy a V8 version of this vehicle that would make more horsepower and torque while at the same time get superior mileage over the V6. Just wouldn't make sense....
GM seems to have gotten 95% of the clue. Although I am still very interested in this vehicle, I will now have to wait until MY '09 to see if they get it right!
