Solar-powered hearing aids improve life in developing nations {Engadget}
May 6th 2008 7:56PM All these new tech ideas that are going to be so cheap are always in other parts of the world! Yea, I know they don't have any money... but neither do we cause WE have to pay far out the rear to get stuff! WE need 300 laptops in classrooms! WE need solar powered hearing aids! Heck, even in new orleans when people were dying the rest of the country didn't send hardly a thing to em. I guess in America it's just "deal with it" or "every man for himself". If that's the case then why do I even need a stupid country! There are many days when I'd do much better without a lot of people around. So while helping the rest of the world is great, there are poor and homeless people outside, regardless or there being a lot of over stuffed homeless shelters. Where I live we don't have any for 30 miles or so. Just saying that charity begins at home. And yes I know his circumstances and reasons for doing it were different from other entrepreneurs, i'm just saying for future reference. Oh yea, and I live in Louisiana too so don't give me any crap about that. I gotta go study for a final. Later.

May 6th 2008 4:28PM dude, I understand what you are saying. I don't think that all those people are terrorists, I think that terrorists are terrorists. By the way, sorry that happened to ya. If it's any consolation I can sorta feel where you're coming from. I'm white and both my parents are doctors. So growing up every time someone my age asked me what my parents did I never wanted to tell them the truth because all I'd hear was "your parents are doctors? Whoa you must be rich!" Yea little timmy, I'm rich alright.... Truth is, they are family practice doctors and my dad is the one who makes a ton of money while my mom had to start over fresh in a new city after the divorce and she and I have been living in rental houses for years! It's been rough. I mean, especially the way the economy is now, if your patients don't have money you don't have money and it wouldn't matter much because they are all insurance patients! My dad though, he's a jerk and does the old run em through like cattle routine. So let's see. If you are nice and honest you are going to be poor, or at least take longer to make good money, and if you are a lying jerk and manipulate people then you'll be richer than you could ever dream! So yea... I got off on a tangent there. And it is true though, majority of the world's active oil supply is owned by arab nations. When you live in a world where oil is the stuff and you don't control it you'd get kinda pissed off if somebody kept squeezing your balls. I mean, we can't just "nuke em" (i was j/k on that) but you can't really make a peaceful fix to it either, so what do you do. Yea, you wean yourself off oil, but in the mean time there are always going to be people that wish they were all just dead! Nothing you can do about that either except not be one of those people. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a final tomorrow. Later, oh and hydrogen FTW!

The Professor: GM's new old engine tech, moon mirrors, the dangers of space war debris {Engadget}
May 4th 2008 9:27PM ok, I don't wanna argue with anybody right now so i'll just say this. You gotta start somewhere, ok? And then once everything is different than it is now and the infrastructure is different and hydrogen is mainstream making the stuff won't be a problem cause you'd be using hydrogen powered crap to make hydrogen to power the crap that uses hydrogen to make hydrogen and so on. Then you also have a bunch of other yet to be discovered substances that we can use to replace petroleum so we could cross that one off the list as well. It's all about future innovation and being positive. It's a vicious cycle at first but eventually it'll even out. Other than that, I don't care because I have a final tomorrow. Now go ahead and disagree with me or argue amongst yourselves. I'm just saying that we are dependent on oil now but it doesn't have to be that way and while it may take some time, I believe that once it's achieved we can almost completely eliminate oil from the cycle and use hydrogen to make hydrogen.
