Can you really open a locked car door with a tennis ball? {Autoblog}

Jul 14th 2007 5:34AM dude, you're overreacting. if thieves really wanted to get in your car, they can easily knock out a back window - no tools, no intelligence required and amazingly discreet. even if this tennis ball bs works, you still need to start the car by other means. an opportunistic thief my steal what's inside your car, but that would be about it. real car thieves don't need tennis balls.

U of M Economics professor tackles tough question of UAW wages {Autoblog}

Jul 14th 2007 4:30AM Jason: 93K sounds low, huh? did you even read the article or was the colorful picture good enough for you?

"According to AAUP and IES, the average annual compensation for a college professor in 2006 was $92,973 (average salary nationally of $73,207 + 27% benefits)."

I'll summarize: Benefits totaling almost 30% WERE calculated into the 93K professors make. There's no extra "hidden" conspiracy money that professors make.

And to imhoff and jm99, someone is twisting the numbers: It's you.

Jul 14th 2007 4:11AM kballs: management and executives are not hourly workers. this professor presented the data to show why the market is messed up in the big three. unions cause wages to be higher than the skills of the workers are worth compared to non-unionized workers. this overcompensation is hurting American automakers. read and understand before you make assumptions.

Jul 14th 2007 4:02AM unions artificially skew the market. if you're working for big 3 plant, you can't not join the union - the unions have tactics to make you comply. while at one time, unions had an important role in standing up for workers, now they just bully both management and the workers.
