Noodle vs. Strudel: WebRidesTV pits MS3 against R32 {Autoblog}
Mar 28th 2008 10:42AM I think a lot of cars such as the MS3 are coming out with FWD instead of AWD to avoid comparison to the STi and Evo, as they will struggle to match them dynamically while retaining their price point. In order to come close to the STi or evo they would have to put more time and money into the car, and up the selling price.
Lotus to celebrate 60th anniversary a few years early {Autoblog}
Mar 26th 2008 11:23AM They did the same thing 10 years ago. I attended their 50th in 1998 at the Lotus factory :)
Porsche 997 GT3 RS named 2007 EVO Car of the Year {Autoblog}
Nov 17th 2007 12:04PM It's not THAT much of a spoiler, after all 911s win almost all tests in evo ;)
VIDEO: Comedian/Actor Eddie Griffin takes out another Enzo {Autoblog}
Mar 27th 2007 4:14AM I agree that the driving left something to be desired. But I also think the same for the course design! You know you're going to have some celebrity who probably can't drive a car like this have a go in an Enzo at high speed, and you have a corner with a concrete barrier very close on the outside! Of course hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I wouldn't want to drive an Enzo with the concrete so close on the outside of a turn, at least not on the limit.
9ff GT9 could unseat Veyron with 254 mph top speed {Autoblog}
Mar 27th 2007 4:06AM nagmashot - I understand they changed the layout, my wording was not good. :) I was just wanting to make the point that the weight distribution being closer to the centre of the car should help the predictability of the on-limit handling. Thanks for the pics!
9ff GT9 could unseat Veyron with 254 mph top speed {Autoblog}
Mar 27th 2007 3:05AM I see people defending the Veyron here, saying that the 9ff is built purely for one thing and so it can't be compared to the Veyron. But the design brief with the Veyron was 1000hp and 250mph, so I don't see how that's any different. They figured out how to do that as best they could, sorted the suspension so it would handle well, and that's that. If they managed to get the Veyron handling well (which it sounds like they have), then I don't see why the 9ff cannot acheive the same thing, especially as they've moved the engine forward in the chassis a bit.

Jan 6th 2007 10:20PM 113bhp/ton, that must be a mistake...With 175bhp and 60mph in 4.5 seconds I would guess they mean 213bhp/ton or something more along those lines.
RR of the Day: Three-wheelin' like only a Miata should {Autoblog}
Dec 9th 2006 1:46PM 19. ok lets see...
miata 0-60 in 7.4 seconds
z4 -5.4 thats 2 seconds difference
It's not about power in autocross. I have beaten 600hp Supras, 500hp RX-7s, and 400hp 911s in my stock Miata. In autocross you're mostly at a reasonably constant speed, just accelerating hard in one or two places usually, meaning it's handling and car balance that are important. It's not even about maximum lateral grip so much as the speed at which you can transition from one state to another while remaining in control!
