Real production Pontiac G8 spied, new concept logo ditched {Autoblog}

Sep 1st 2007 8:25PM When i read threads like this, i sometimes wish GM would not even bother selling cars to Americans and concentrate on China instead. Nothing but bitch and whine and complain, yet they buy Camry's in the hundres of thousands, the single most invisible car on the planet. That says so much to me.

The G8 is an excellent vehicle and its right up there with the 5 series and Audi A6, let alone something like a carmy. It has style, performance, safety and quality and its fast. Anyone stepping into this after any previous Pontiac sedan will be stepping into another world. Kudos to GM and to Holden.

More for less (kinda) - 2008 Highlander Hybrid pricing announced {Autoblog}

Aug 31st 2007 9:03PM I'm sorry, but that thing is breathtakingly ugly. As for the comments about people not affording it, so choosing to heap insults on it, I hardly believe that is the case at all. Its a truly ugly vehicle and advances the art of car design not one iota. Seriously, why would you buy this when there are so many more attractive alternatives on offer? But then again, I think that question could stand for nearly any car in Toyotas range.

Spy Shots: Hyundai Sonata {Autoblog}

Jun 30th 2007 8:38AM When was any Hyundai an enjoyable little number? Least of all a sonanta....Will never understand why people buy Hyundais......

Ford retains KPMG to have a look at Jag's and Rover's books {Autoblog}

Jun 25th 2007 9:03AM Well we know that Land Rover is doing well...jaguar not so well...However, jaguar does have the XF coming this year so they could do well out of it yet.

Ford's problems with jaguar also mirror that of the mother company itself. They never replace the cars quick enough. The days when you could have a car out in the market for 8 years or more are long gone. You need a redesign every four years. This is probably one of the reasons why the Japanese do as well as they do.

Ford has completley squandered a very sexy brand. Jaguar could have been fantastic..but no F-Type, S_type nearly 10 years of age...XJ handicapped with old retro styling...FWD/4WD X-Type...The list of blunders is endless. Even the otherwise handsome XK8 has been hurt slightly by its Grille and headlamps..New nose please.

Jaguar Could have been a true success story....Maybe it still will but the sand is running out...

Dodge Caliber SRT-4 finally coming this fall {Autoblog}

Jun 25th 2007 8:09AM This is why a lot off the domestic products have poor quality. A lot of Americans seem to expect something for nothing. You really expect Dodge to sell a car with a 280hp engine for less than $20,000? You do realise that is the equivalent to 10,000 GBP? You should see what 10 grand buys you in the UK and it aint no 280hp hot hatch.

You can't really expect Dodge to have Audi like quality when you expect to buy them for peanuts. Add on the healthcare burden and no wonder the big three are losing money...

In the Autoblog Garage: 2007 Saturn Outlook, First Impressions {Autoblog}

Jun 23rd 2007 5:21AM When did anyone think a Hyundai was cool? They have NEVER been cool. And people criticising the Outlook for its economy..Just sit and think about it for a moment. Its designed to carry a lot of people with the latest safety. and quality standards. You only have to look at that Chinese car to appreiciate what goes into a modern American designed vehicle. People want quality, safety and refinement..those things unfortunatley add weight. If GM started using lightweight materials, their expense would price the Lambdas out of the market.

People think its so easy, it dissappoints me a lot. How about congratulating GM for producing three of the most handsome and quality vehicles currently on sale in USA, instead of focusing on the negatives?....Oooo my 8 seater crossover doesn't have the economy of a Honda Fit..well duh....

More proof of Jeremy Clarkson's literary genius {Autoblog}

Jun 3rd 2007 2:34AM I think Clarkson is great. He doesn't always get it right, but he always entertains. And as for that American episode...Guys get over it...It was just silly and as someone has already said, if the most offensive thing was nascar sucked, then people are easily offended. Then again, we are talking about a country who was mortified by Janet Jacksons right breast....Or was it the left one?..so go figure.

Call Magnum, there's a new 308! Oh wait, it's a Peugeot... {Autoblog}

May 28th 2007 8:29AM I'm sorry, but this is breathtakingly Ugly...What is going on with those hideous arches....The car is an absolute mess..and lets not even talk about that gurning front...Peugeot is going dramatically downhill...and I well eblieve the rumour that Citroen has all the best designers at PSA. America be lucky you don't get some of Europes cars after all...The Astra is so much more defined and stylish compared to this soggy pear of a car...Ill est Merde

Chevy dealers "mad as hell" - target Tundra with ads {Autoblog}

Apr 6th 2007 12:58AM Frankly, I am astonished at some of the comments on here and they have nothing to do with either Toyota or GM. The level of offensivness is literally off the scale....I am surprised some of you can even drive given the apparent lack of education.

With regard to the topic at hand, as someone who lived in Europe, I wondered why on earth do Americans buy Toyotas in the quantities that they do? In europe we are spoilt for choice with hot great cars, Renaults, Audis's, Citroens, Alfa Romeo's etc etc So Toyota just does not come into it.

I can see why someone would possibly buy a Camry for its reliabilty, but if that is all you want, why not buy a Hyundai? They are much cheaper than a Toyota and they have equally little image. Why buy a Toyota? Seriously? What is it offering you over any other car? You are not getting prestige, you're not getting handsome styling....the interior quality is really quite horrendous in the examples I have seen....The Tundra being shocking actually. They have never been a drivers car...I just don't understand..Just what is it about them?

Seriously, if all you want is basic transport, fair enough..buy Korean....American cars are getting much, much better and I have been very impressed with all the next gen GM products, Aura, Astra, the Sky and Solstice, the trucks...the Enclave, the new CTS and the G8. All of these vehicles show the one thing that I have never found in any Toyota and that is Passion and personality.

VIDEO: New "Proof" commercial puts Ford's best foot forward {Autoblog}

Mar 30th 2007 8:11AM Well Its good to see a commercial that focuses purely on the cars, but the tag line sucks. "Bold Moves"? What exactly is bold about anything they do? If they mean Bold in the tense of exaggeration, then yes...bold moves indeed.

At the end of the day its an everage line up of cars. The Trucks look great and may well be the best in their class but the car line up, with exception of Edge, is truly average. They had a great rear whell drive platfrom with the LS and they did 2 cars before mothballing it. What a waste of money. Then the truly insipid 500 came along...why wasnt this car on the LS Platform?

Just look at the European Ford Lineup and weep. Mondeo, Focus, Fiesta, Ka, C-max, S-Max, Galaxy...every single one a hit and near the top of their class. Bringing cars like these to the USA would be a Bold Move. Ford should concentrate more on Product and less on Market BS.
