May 12th 2008 8:31PM That still doesn't change the fact that it's a fat pig! Cars like this won't last, why do you think they didn't last the last fuel crisis?
This car is going to be another flash in the pan for Chrysler before they yank it because it's not profitable and its not selling like they want it to.
Unless they do something drastic, like putting a four cylinder engine in it to increase it's average fuel mileage it will be gone by 2015.

May 12th 2008 3:45PM Quite the opposite, CVTs are more efficient than automatic gear boxes for a couple of reasons. Automatics have to deal with turning fluids which more power is lost in that than turning belts, and CVTs are able to keep an engine at its most efficient RPM over at most speeds where as an automatic cannot because of its limited number of gears.

May 12th 2008 3:39PM Yes it does, and if companies would invest the amount of money it takes to develop a new gearbox into a CVT, it wouldn't take that long to develop one that isn't torque limited. There are applications using hydraulics that can be used but their weight is an issue and they aren't as efficient as using the belt system in current CVTs because of fluid losses in compressing the hydraulic fluids.

May 11th 2008 2:14PM Yes finally justice is served! He technically should have gone to jail for involuntary man slaughter! It's nice to have money, free drugs, free women, and as many get out of jail free cards as you can pay for. Hopefully this tool will learn something out of this, possibly some humility, but I doubt it. More money than brains is the usual case.

May 9th 2008 9:15AM Yes it may be only be 5% better, but it adds up, not only are they more efficient, but they're also smaller and lighter too so it adds up. I'd rather it be a little annoying and pay less gas money.
