Nov 14th 2007 4:20PM Are you kidding me? It's much WORSE than Bakersfield! Fresno IS the armpit of the west coast. It has one of the highest per capita crime ratings in the country!!!! There is NO reason to stop there unless you ran out of fuel!

This commercial is offensive, only because it's TRUE and exposing facts which the repressed have supressed in denial!

Lexus poised to be the next Cadillac, but not in the good way {Autoblog}

Oct 16th 2007 11:42AM "This is what happeneds when you don't have your own design language and build appliances for the masses. Old people love reliability and boring safe designs. "

I don't see the problem with that. There are a lot of old people, and they generally have more money than the 20 somethings. It's a viable market segment and great for profits. Sacrifice one model, the ES350, and you'll see Lexus have it's cake and eat it too!

They will make it worse.

Jun 8th 2007 1:38PM "I'm a PC Tech myself and ill attest that hard disk drive technology is NOT meant to be mobile, its been forced into that application but hard drives have moving parts, they are going to die. "

Apparently the idea of "solid state" is lost on you...
Solid State means exactly that, SOLID, NO MOVING PARTS.

Japan has been using solid state micro-electronics for years (about the same time we were just warming up to USB in Windows 95 version B)..

The problem with solid state, as with any other electric, is simply heat. Without moving parts (i.e. fans!) circulation is poor and the chips will suffer from heat soak. This is perhaps why the iPod has a metal cartridge - it's a giant heatsink meant to dissipate the heat!

LaNeve says that Chevy ads must change {Autoblog}

Jun 5th 2007 6:05PM Trying to correlate recalls with reliability is infantile. Things are constantly being fixed or improved, and it is to the customer's benefit to have these upgrades for free.

The entire paradigm for measuring performance, reliability, cost, etc.. in this industry needs to be re-focused on the product and not just on what the bean counters call "good enough". It's obvious that the bean-counter approach has done nothing but snowball into the mess we have today. Cadillac once stood next to Bentley and Daimler on the world stage - now its just a very nice "Chevy".

The "Chevrolet" cars need to be where Cadillac cars are today. Cadillac should be in an entirely different league all together.

But no, somehow we're happy competing for the lower end of the middle ground market, with products from Korea even. That is indeed a SAD state of affairs.

MT drives the VW Tiguan early {Autoblog}

Jun 5th 2007 3:48PM My only complaint is that VW/AUDI is so far behind the curve in the SUV and Cross-Over segments..

I had to buy an ML350 because VAG didn't offer anything comparable in the US. The Q7 is too big and the Cayenne/Touareg is also too big and heavy. The BMW X5 is a terrible ergonomic mess and the X3 is on the more petite side. The ML is just the right size to be used as a daily driver and a weekend traveller.

May 14th 2007 11:37PM "I wonder how 'AMAZIMG' those renderings would look without the 20inch rims and air tight body panel gaps."

Oh, you mean you've never seen a VW?

I think these concepts are great! The uni-body truck idea isn't THAT FAR ahead of it's time. In fact, part of the team responsible for the Honda Ridgeline are a couple ex-GM engineers who proposed a similar concept about 10 YEARS AGO. GM shelved it, and these bright guys wound up at Honda.

SO it's more like, GM dropped the ball once. Now they have a chance to catch up, but will they drop the same ball AGAIN?

New York Times dooms Nissan Altima Coupe before it goes on sale {Autoblog}

May 3rd 2007 3:22AM I have a love-hate relationship with media. I really can't stand when "business" or "finance" writers & editors are stuck covering the automotive industry. Aside from complete lack of knowledge about the product, they often base the results of comparos on tests only a bean counter or office secretary would take seriously. And the rest of the un-informed public eats it up like morning oats :(

May 2nd 2007 9:47PM I agree with Jay on the exhaust note. I wish opening that up a little wouldn't mean a ticket from the constable due to noise violations :(
