Man claims prayer brought pump prices down {Autoblog}

Aug 18th 2008 7:36PM One word: Mor(m)ons.

...Couldn't resist the pun.

Now then, in all seriousness, this isn't even local newsworthy, let alone blog-worthy. This guy's church, cult, whatever-you-want-to-call-it, prayed for lower gas prices.. and they happened?! When did solid economic theory and real analytics give way to "this guy prayed and it happened, it must have been God!" ...?

This is tripe and any person simple-minded enough to believe in direct-intervention for a record-profit commodity by a divine hand may need to have their head examined.

Faith is fine, stupidity isn't.

BMW updates M models for 2009 {Autoblog}

Aug 1st 2008 2:06PM Here's my biggest question for Bimmer: Where's the 1-series M?
Smaller? Check.
Lighter? Check.
Power to the correct wheels? Check.
M-variant? Nope.

Well, there went my deposit.

Segway CTO becoming VP of Apple product design -- yes, really {Engadget}

Jul 7th 2008 1:09PM Excellent. Two companies with completely useless products coming together into one techno-fashionista bundle that no outargeously-priced-style-over-substance connoisseur will be able to resist!

Mazda MX-5 facelift might not go Nagare {Autoblog}

Jun 5th 2008 7:33PM The absolute BEST Miata was the previous-generation's MazdaSpeed Miata (MX-5). They 1) NEVER should have gotten rid of the name of the car in lieu of it's designation and 2) NEVER should have shared-platformed with the stupendously ugly RX-8.

Where did all of Mazda's styling go in the last generation? Did it take a nap? Did the main designer have a retarded baby and felt that everything should look like his kid's facial features? Seriously. The current generation simply looks like the retarded siblings of the previous- the MX-5 of the Miata and the RX-8 of the (most perfectly styled car of all-time) RX-7.

Bring back something that makes me look at the miata diving into a corner and go "wow."

Alfa Romeo exec in talks with Chrysler {Autoblog}

May 27th 2008 7:11PM I, for one Alfeisti, will not purchase a chrysler-made Alfa Romeo, no matter how cheap it becomes. I purchase Alfas because they are truly italian sports cars that are available to the masses and an absolute joy to drive and experience how the Italians do things (read: the right way or not at all).

I give no credence to the claims of Alfa's build quality- the 90's spiders we had on these shores are absolutely fantastic vehicles both in terms of their drivability and their reliability. I look forward to the MiTo on our shores, and even more if we get the Brera or a 147.

Nihon Uni shirts resist stabbing, make you feel like a superhero {Engadget}

Mar 25th 2008 5:53PM Even if it's only slash resistant, I'd buy one. Speaking as a knife-fighter, you're going to see 1 intial thrust that starts the fight and then slashes to the abdomen from thereon out (it's the biggest target). Supposing you make the initial parry, or even if you don't and you turn the blow into a side-slash, that's worth the $500 right there. Furthermore, I'd wager that it's at least pierce-resistant if it's slash impervious, and that's more than enough of an advantage to win a knife fight. I have to survive the surprise attack; after that it's the difference between the guy-with-the-knife and the knife-fighter.

BTW- tanto and kerambits would be very interesting to see demonstrated with this fabric. The former for it's spearpoint and the latter for the ripping action of the blade. Show me how this holds up to them and I'll show you $500 I'll happily plunk down.

...For those that don't know waht those two knives are- look 'em up.

Geneva Preview: Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback sketches surface {Autoblog}

Jan 25th 2008 8:20AM To Mitsubishi:
This will sell if brought to the states. This will probably sell BETTER than the sedan-variant Ralliart.

The lines are powerful, aggressive and the roofline complements the hood far better than in the sedan.

One thing- ditch the top-glass spoiler. Doesn't look right. Duck-tail the spoiler a-la the camaros of yesteryear. Doesn't need to be huge, just functional.
