In the Autoblog Garage: Volkswagen Jetta 2.5 SE {Autoblog}

Apr 9th 2008 1:48PM @JohnJohnson: I own a 2008 Jetta SE and the aux connector IS in the glovebox. I have a big long aux cable that I have to run from the glovebox to the cupholders where I put my mp3 player (shudder). Perhaps the person who designed your Rabbit actually took the time to think about how stupid putting a aux jack in a glovebox actually is.

The iPod connector is in the center armrest if that option is chosen (as pictured).

Apr 9th 2008 1:23PM If your friend has this car (2008 - 170hp wasn't available until this model year) then all this would be covered by warranty. I have owned one of these for 6 months and have no experienced any of the problems that you describe. Sounds like your friend's car may have had some water damage or something.

Apr 9th 2008 1:20PM tpp,

The iPod connector is a $200 option. A standard aux jack is standard though stupidly placed in the glovebox. No it's not USB but it'll at least let you use your brown Zune. :o)

Dodge's Journey will make all your dreams come true {Autoblog}

Apr 9th 2008 10:24AM When will domestic auto makers finally "get it" and realize that lame interiors will not lure the import buyers that they are trying to attract? Yes the Journey looks nice from the outside and it offers some pretty cool storage options inside, but the overall interior look and feel reminds me of the late 90's.

The Journey is certainly not alone in this respect. My wife and I test drove a fully-loaded Ford Edge a couple of months ago with a $33,000 price tag. It looked great from the outside but once I got in the drivers seat and saw the cheap plastic used on the instrument panel, I was instantly turned off. Feeling the cheap controls only sealed the deal and an Edge was no longer an option for our family.

Back to the Journey, has Dodge not looked at the price of gas lately? This is 2008 and 19 city/25 highway is certainly nothing to be bragging about. With gas mileage this terrible, what is preventing a buyer from just buying a "real" SUV? I'm sorry Dodge, but this vehicle will never make any of my dreams come true.

Dude, where's my iPhone SDK remote debug mode? {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Mar 7th 2008 11:18AM Yes I caught this as well and if you think about it, this makes perfect sense. If nobody was required to pay anything to stick an app on their iPhone, there would be nothing keeping anyone from simply distributing their XCode projects and thus avoid the App Store altogether. I'm in total agreement with Kelmon on this one in that if you *are* serious about developing for the iPhone, $99 is a very small price to pay.Think about it: no other hosting fees, no need to spend time setting up a link to a payment gateway or worrying about security breaches, and exposure to *all* iPhone users. Remember, $99 is equivalent to around $8 a month, and in my opinion, a bargain.

Pixelmator 1.1.3 updates move, crop and zoom {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Feb 22nd 2008 9:56AM Pixelmator people: Please please please implement a line tool. This is a very basic image editing feature and, in my opinion, should have been included with 1.0.

MacHeist bundle now on sale, includes CoverSutra {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Jan 9th 2008 1:56AM The first locked app, CSSEdit will only be unlocked if at least 5,000 bundles are sold. No telling what the bundle thresholds are for Snapz or Pixelmator. Last year MacHeist sold 16,000 and thus unlocked Textmate and NewsFire.
