Your oil dollars at work - $9.8 million license plate auction in the UAE {Autoblog}

May 6th 2008 4:10PM Hey - the out of whack distribution of wealth worldwide bothers me. It wasn't clear in the source article that the auction was for charity. Whatever you took away from the post that offended you, I'm sorry. I had no racist intent when I wrote the post - thanks for the blatant antisemitism, however misplaced.

Your oil dollars at work - $9.8 million license plate auction in the UAE {Autoblog}

May 6th 2008 2:37PM I'm not Jewish, nor do I have a problem with Arab countries. It does seem rather ridiculous to spend big money for a low number license plate - and I find it just as ridiculous here in the US.

Toyota halts 2008 Highlander sales as part of recall {Autoblog}

May 3rd 2008 3:23PM You know, we really do try to cover everyone's recalls equally. We certainly don't sit around a cauldron reciting cooking up ways to ding Toyota.

Marketing 101: Make stuff up, make it visible - BMW's subtle 1-Series shilling {Autoblog}

Apr 13th 2008 6:10PM no. I'm in that age group (barely) and I don't find the 1 attractive. It may be smaller than the now-bloated 3 series, but that comes at the cost of space efficiency. It's TIGHT, and the 3 is not known for its spaciousness. Smaller would be okay if it were lighter, but it's not, really. Further, for what the 1-series costs, you can step into a 3 - either a slightly less luxe brand new one, or a phenomenal E46 with a few miles.

Lamborghini joins the rest of us misfits, offers podcasts on iTunes {Autoblog}

Apr 12th 2008 10:11PM Alex, as usual, has a good point - but - you CAN get a Gallardo for 180K or so. Sure, it's a stretch, but I'd call that attainable for a striver.

Apr 9th 2008 12:57PM Oh yeah! Now I remember playing with that Kenworth that would transform into a control room or something back in the 1980s.

I still think someone trying to figure out what this car's trying to say via braille is far funnier :)

Apr 8th 2008 10:51AM It's overrated to put your money where your mouth is with a make-good program that cuts live checks? Do you honestly think there are many other companies that would just give people money - even if those customers want to go buy something else? Think about that - 150% of the "excellent" value via a used vehicle price guide no matter the condition of the truck.
