May 8th 2008 12:40PM I hope they sell a ton of these things to soccer-moms so they have enough cash to develop a Cayman Turbo. I'll never buy a Porsche SUV but if that's how they have to whore themselves out to be able to produce excellent sports-cars, then so be it.

Green Genesis Coupe shows up, 286 hp turbo DI engine nearby? {Autoblog}

May 6th 2008 11:28PM Drop this engine in the spec-r version and get rid of 250-350lbs.

Apr 23rd 2008 8:32PM "Push to Pass" sounds like the "turbo boost" option KITT had in the '80s. Who knew Knight Rider was so ahead of its time.

Toyota/Subaru RWD sports car confirmed for 2011 with boxer engine {Autoblog}

Apr 10th 2008 1:35PM This is really good news. Genesis coupe, SVX, and a Celica All-trac sounds like a return of affordable sports cars. Not all of us can pay 30k+ for a decent RWD coupe. All we need now is for Nissan and Mazda to get back in the game. Where's that "first arrow into battle" Mazda? By the time the Kabura comes out Subyota will have allready won the war.

Mar 20th 2008 3:45PM I want a lightweight Spec R version with the 290hp DI turbo 4cyl from sister company KIA's Koup concept. Build that and I'm first in line to buy one.

Mar 20th 2008 3:24PM Exactly what I was thinking. Bait and switch from Hyundai. Put this 290hp DI turbo 4cyl into the proposed light weight Genesis Coupe Spec R version and you have a real winner. Id be first in line to buy one.

New York 2008: Hyundai Genesis coupe, LIVE {Autoblog}

Mar 19th 2008 6:26PM Any more info on the rumor about a "lightweight" turbo 4 version? The base model weighs 3400lbs...how much are they talking about dropping? I'm hoping for 400lbs and 25 more hp, but realistically it'll probably only be about 100-150lbs. Will the lightweight version be available at launch or is it more of a mid-cycle refresh? Any news about factory backed performance parts for this coupe (ala TRD, Mazdaspeed, Nismo, etc.)? This car has potential with the right price and mods.

Mar 18th 2008 11:31PM Sign me up for the lightweight turbo 4 banger, hopefully it will come with a body kit to fix the fugly front end though.

Chrysler exec says all its vehicles will be hybrids {Autoblog}

Mar 1st 2008 4:34PM Just a quick comparison of the Nissan Altima hybrid, Toyota camry hybrid, and the standard 2.5cyl versions of the same cars reveal:

Altima hybrid/Altima/Camryhybrid/Camry

MSRP:
$25,170/$20,680/$25,200/$21,075 = roughly $4,000 more for hybrid

Weight:
3482 lbs/3184 lbs/3680 lbs/3307 lbs = roughly 300 extra pounds for hybrid drivetrain

EPA Mileage per gallon:
Highway:
33/31/34/31 = 2-3 miles per gallon better for hybrid on highway
City:
35/23/33/21 = 12 mpg better in the city for hybrid

I personally don't do a lot of city driving so I can't justify the 300 extra lbs and the $4,000 premium for the Hybrid. It may be beneficial for some people but to me its a waste of money.
