Pontiac G8 prototypes roll off the line in Oz {Autoblog}
Jul 4th 2007 11:18AM No, look again at the picture (click for the big one) where they are across the hood. The beige car on the right clearly has a different shaped grill and the opening in the bumper does not have chrome where the blue one does. The top corners of the blue car's grill are a sharp point, they are rounded on the beige car.

Jul 4th 2007 10:11AM I just looked again, and thanks to the beige interior you can see that the Chevy is left hand drive, which means it definitely isn't something for Aussie use.
And what IS that gold car? It has almost a Buick look to the front end. Could the black bar in the grill be holding a triple-crest in the middle? And if it is a Buick will it actually make it to the U.S. or will those morons only send it to China? Now THERE'S a Buick my 65 year old father would buy to replace the Honda.

Jul 4th 2007 10:03AM WTF? Am I missing something here? Look at the photos again. That dark blue car to the left of the G8 CLEARLY has a gold CHEVY BOWTIE on the front! I can't get a good look at the gold car in these photos though.
Is the blue one the next Impala? Or is it just a Chevy version bound for an Asian or Europeeeon market?
World's first air-powered car introduced {Autoblog}
Jun 1st 2007 10:09AM I think they are on the right track, but the wrong train! What if...
They did a full plug-in hybrid, (in a normal car, not this joke) but instead of an IC engine generating the backup power have the compressed air running the generator? I'm no engineer but it seems like with the right screw and piping on the generator compressed air could drive it for a while at least. And have a built in 110V compressor on board so if your batteries are low and your PSI is low just pull up ANYWHERE with a 110V outlet and let the MF pump itself back up!
At least we can dream...

Feb 12th 2007 2:20PM $170K? Are you kidding me? No way, I want receipts.
If this ID10T actually spent $170K then he was taken on quite a ride involving many trips to the ATM. Tell him to give me a call, I would love to help him with is next project. I have no idea what he might want, but I bet I can get it built for the bargain price of only $150K!!!!

Feb 6th 2007 10:47AM FYI, a little late news in case someone is looking...
Saw an ML yesterday (Feb. 5, 2007) here on the test route in Alabama with "ML420 CRI" badges and the usual manufacturer plates (plate 9CARA if I remember correctly).
The bumper and light combos were clearly updated and production items, so this is probably an '08 refreshed. Expect the ML420 w/CRI available this fall in the '08 models.

Ford loses $1b due to counterfeit parts {Autoblog}
Jan 23rd 2007 3:23PM Key word: Counterfeit
If we buy what appears to be a real Ford (I assume Motorcraft) part how would we know the difference? If it is a reputable company then the only way to find out is if Ford exposes them.
Of course if we find a good deal on a "new Motorcraft" part on eBay then that is a sign that it may not be legit. But when was the last time you saw a good deal on eBay? I haven't, usually it is off brand parts at full retail prices.
What is to stop a bad Ford dealership from selling me counterfeit parts? Surely there are no dealerships who would do that, right? Not even those salesmen in the other story who stole from the 'mentally challenged' customer?
Toyota to Honda: You can have midsize coupe market. We out (sorta) {Autoblog}
Jan 19th 2007 9:30AM You think Honda caught wind of this? I bet they did. That may explain their 34% projection, assuming that Solara sales were close to the Accoupe's then they may have decided they should get at least a third of those sales, with the other 2/3 possibly going to the new Altima Coupe.
Sounds like Toyota really is starting to act like GM. The competition is about to release a new, much improved model in a 'niche' segment where their product is soft. So Toyota folds. WWGMD?
