My brother has an 06 Fusion with 48k on it...to date he has had it in the shop for:
-the plastic door handle (inside) was chipping
My Mother has an 05 Escape with 56k and it has been in for:
-Rear window weather strip
-antenna wiring loose
My gf gas an 03 Escape with 134K and it's been back for:
-Nothing other than regular maintenance.
There are good and bad ones built everyday. It's not exclusive to any automaker. In the end, buy what you like or need.

The only thing that has really changed is the yen's value. The high commodities cost and sagging market has been there for some time now.
The only variable that has really effected their profits is the value of the yen. When it was weak they could offset these other variables. Now that the "currency crutch" has been neutralized their profits are being pinched. This will continue until the dollar strengthens.

What's important is not that it is $4k more than a base Stang but that it's only $2k less than a V8 GT Stang.
If there's no Mopar allegiance for the customer the better deal is the GT.

Apr 16th 2008 5:18PM How much lighter do you want it? If the figures stated above are correct, it's within 300-400lbs of a Corvette ( I think the Vette is around 3200lb).
It has a very durable and smooth riding rear-end. I'm sure you're saying an IRS is the proper rearend. But the live axle has proven itself not to be a hinderance to performance on either the street or track.
All it needs is a 3:73 gear as standard equipment. That alone would make it "feel" 300-400lb lighter.
