GM/Ford merger brought up in boardroom, immediately shot down {Autoblog}

Jun 25th 2008 2:49PM Disagree - merge them and rationlize the product line, share common components and platforms. fire the corp. executives save a very few and keep all of the engineering staffs (give those people a raise, even); Get the US govt to give them a bridge loan for 2 years as they are teetering near bankruptcy. Then we will be playing the auto game as the germans, japanese and koreans play it- with their govts money and taxpayers fully subsidizing their operations.

NHTSA announces new CAFE standards through 2015 {Autoblog}

Apr 22nd 2008 5:16PM 35 mpg isnt a big deal unless you are a senior who cannot get in and out of tiny cars, or you want to go skiing or hunting, or haul the boat, or have 2 or 3 kids, or go to work and need the pickup bed.... this dot-dot-dot could go on forever with instances where it isnt a big deal.

Toyota claims Jim Press lied about gov't funding Prius development {Autoblog}

Apr 2nd 2008 4:36PM Ive heard for years that hybrids and their battery makers were heavily subsidized by japans taxpayers- they have the strongest industry and still subsidize them up the wazoo- Japan never plays fair - but who cares- weve only lost 1 million auto jobs, but toyo helped by hiring 30,000 in the US, fair trade?!

California regulators shooting for 40 mpg by 2020 {Autoblog}

Feb 27th 2008 12:44PM wonderful!- it will be so fun to watch families take their kids on a ski vacation in the future- I think that Gm and ford should figure out ways to cheaply, totally rehab the big suvs and pickups on the road, bec. people wont be taking them out of service for the next 25 years.
It is so great to submit to the authority of these genius planners who know better than all of us naive babies.

Senate passes Energy Bill: Back to House and onto White House {Autoblog}

Dec 14th 2007 12:23PM Keep voting for the dems and keep losing ALL of your freedoms. Scalp the Repubs who voted for this job killer. The only real answer is to have electric vehicles supported by a new nuclear-powered infrastructure. No, lets just pass a pie-in-the-sky MPG number (from all of those congressional jerks who are also electrical and automotive engineers).

Energy Bill fails again in Senate by one vote, new vote set for later today {Autoblog}

Dec 13th 2007 3:15PM Well, go through the bill -idea by idea and tell me how anyone who votes for it ,"cares for YOU". Not for this forum, but look into it. - We do have alot of ethanol coming on line, so something has been done about it. Really, we need electric plug-ins powered by a new nuclear-powered infrastructure. Then drill ANWAR, add the ethanol and we would have enough oil left so that we arent all FORCED to drive mini-coopers.
There are other reasons I hate CAFE, chief among them is that this idea practically gives whats left of our sole manufacturing(autos) right over to Japan, who has a huge MPG advantage and have already paid for their hybrid technology (and arent sharing it, either).

Dec 13th 2007 3:03PM "California and at least 12 other states to impose a 30 percent reduction in tailpipe emissions by 2016 -- a move that would require passenger cars to average 43.7 mpg by 2020." Great! keep voting democrat and watch your rights go poof. But all of this is for your 'own good'.

Spy Shots: 2009 HUMMER H3 SUT caught at Baja 1000 {Autoblog}

Nov 29th 2007 9:38PM That is good looking, now bring back the class of all SUVs, the H1 and save the brand!!!- They should have continued to sell it for another 10 years, unchanged. I still dont understand that decision, does anyone know the REAL reason? Heres hoping it wasnt just for PR.

Toyota delivers pair of plug-in Prius to California universities {Autoblog}

Nov 13th 2007 12:33PM Why are US Universities helping protected, Japanese-subsidized COMPETITORS? That is the interesting question -Oh I know, while our roads are falling apart, Japan is putting in singing roads, OK I get it.
