Detroit Auto Show: A conversation with Ed Peper {Autoblog}
Jan 11th 2007 12:34PM That is one thing I've wondered about:
Toyota and Honda are selling 2 models to Ford & Chevy's 3.
Corola, Camry
Civic, Accord
vs.
Focus, Fusion, 500
Cobalt, Malibu, Impala
I'm sure each company has justifications, but this has lead to several things:
*late model Corolas and Civics are noticeably bigger.
*Honda and Toyota have a little more room in their ranges for the Fit and Yaris.
*Ford and GM are probably spreading their R&D dollars a little thinner on a per model basis.
Chevy Camaro Convertible Concept rolls into Detroit early {Autoblog}
Jan 5th 2007 12:08PM I love the look of the "center stack". The climate control and audio interfaces look like they could work well, if plenty of thought was put into their design, and reduce the massive chunk of plastics sitting in the middle of most cars.
Using this console design would also leave plenty of space for the 4-pack gauges that are most likely to be changed from the concept car.
G3 iMac good enough for casual user? {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Jul 12th 2006 2:37AM Blue & White G3, originally 350 but upgraded to 450 with a friends post-upgrade processor. 2 bad RAM slots so I'm limited to 512MB max. Purchased a 3rd party DVD burner to replace the internal drive.
I'm running the lastest OSX & iLife, though I don't use iMovie or iDVD. iPhoto certainly crawls. Office 2004 runs fine. Other than that and the gaping performance gap that keeps it from running WoW, it does everything I need it to do on a daily basis with acceptable levels of performance.
Yet another melting magsafe connector {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Jun 28th 2006 11:33AM The first melting connector pictures were removed at Apple's REQUEST because the customer appreciated the prompt resolution of the problem.
Pontiac unveils G6 GXP concept car {Autoblog}
Apr 3rd 2006 9:32PM I've never seen interior shots like this, but I've definitely seen that front shot before. Notice the only real change from the '05 SEMA car is the spoiler:

The front ports are horribly deformed and the hood scoops just plain don't work with the rest of the look. As much as I actually like some Pontiacs, this appears to be further evidence that nobody over there in authority has any guidance over the brand image. How on earth can Pontiac keep behaving this way while Cadillac, Hummer, Saturn, and Saab can all find "brand identity" in a dictionary?

2006 Buick Lucerne CXS: In the Autoblog Garage Day 1-2 {Autoblog}
Mar 7th 2006 6:31PM The car looks better in person than in pictures. The exterior seems of the general type to compete with the Avalon and ES330, but comes across as 'unique enough'. At least that's how I'm seeing things when trying to view them through the eyes of somebody in the Lucerne/Avalon/ES330 demographic.
Numbers-wise the Northstar doesn't sound super competetive, but few - if any - reviewers have anything bad to say about the motor. The arrival of 6-speed automatics to this and most GM cars will make a lot of gripes about GM powertrains go away.
Chicago Auto Show: Dodge Caliber SRT-4 launch {Autoblog}
Feb 8th 2006 4:18PM The car looks really good in person, and the base pricing is outstanding. Hopefully it drives well and has a roomy/functional interior.

Feb 7th 2006 4:38PM Pick any two:
OSHA & Employment Regulations
Unions
Union protection laws
The biggest reaons for starting unions were negated with effective state & federal employment regulations and OSHA.
If people really do want to keep their unions then remove the protection laws that keep companies from hiring non-union labor. Then let the unions figure out how to keep themselves simultaneously competetive at offering employment to companies and protection to workers. Then we can stop paying for OSHA and other government services and let the unions take care of it all themselves.
Motorola SLVR with iTunes now available from Cingular {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Jan 31st 2006 11:55PM Given the size and features (bluetooth!) of this phone, $200 with contract is a decent price. Nokia charges about $280 in the same situation for the 6682, which is plenty larger though also Series 60.
As for iSync support, Motorola specifically lists SyncML support and Apple has support for every Moto SyncML phone so far.
