PS3 bitten by Yellow Dog Linux {Joystiq}

Oct 17th 2006 5:06PM @Meh

>>Well, the site says "Yellow Dog Linux v5.0 for PLAYSTATION 3 will be made available through YDL.net Enhanced accounts, through the Terra Soft on-line Store, retailers, and public mirrors world-wide."

Yellow Dog Linux has a free downloadable ISO on their site, which is the same with every Linux distro. This is a requirement of GPL.

If you want the disk with tech support and documentation you can buy it from their online store (which is also similar to all Linux distros).

But its free.

Oct 17th 2006 4:23PM Joystiq really needs some help, honestly, can't write anything positive about Sony. Everything has to be spun into something negative.

Folks at a gaming site should be able to recall TerraSoft (YDL) is working with Sony on a supercomputer, they had a press release last week. All the question that Joystiq poses are on the YDL website that Joystiq linked to.

Oct 14th 2006 12:14PM >>Who wants a bluetooth keyboard (unless they already have one for their cell phone) anyways? They're ridiculously expensive - anything bluetooth is. Most people probably just want a cheap usb keyboard.

It's got 4 USB ports, you can use either USB or BT, you're choice.

Oct 14th 2006 12:04PM >>if you would pay attention....its only free for one year

NO, it's FREE FOREVER, read the article. You only get charged for downloadable content ONLY, you do not pay to play online; JUST LIKE THE PC, not a new concept.

From article:
"Oh - and it's all free, too. The only place you'll be asked to fork over a penny is when you purchase something in the PlayStation Store - all of the online services, from sign-up right through to voice and video chat, are free, as is normal multiplayer gaming."

Spy VIDEO!: 2009 Nissan GT-R {Autoblog}

Oct 14th 2006 11:18AM >>Interesting. I wonder how much this thing will cost.

At this point everything is speculation, anywhere from $55-85k depending on who you ask. The Japanese magazines have it around $55k, being that the outgoing GT-R a few years back the JDM Skyline GTiR R34 started around $42K, but I'm sure Nissan doesn't hasn't set in in stone at this point being that the car is still a year away and parts from suppliers are still being negotiated. Unless it's from Nissan anybody that gives you a price is lying.

Oct 14th 2006 8:49AM >>You can buy a 650hp Corvette for the magical price of $peculation james?

The BlueDevil, or whatever its called, will be way more then the Z06, right now dealers are charging over $80k for them due to demand, might come down to retail by the end of the year, but the BlueDevil will likely be in the range of the Ford GT, not even close to the GT-R in price.

The car should be closer to the Z06 in price, not the "BlueDevil", being that the car is being tested against the 470hp Porsche 997 Turbo in the video, which is incredibly fast around the Ring, that's a good sign for the GT-R in terms of performance.

PS3 game prices (at launch) same as Xbox 360 game prices (at launch) {Joystiq}

Sep 26th 2006 8:41PM >>Even more awesome news for those Sony Drones who thought they were going to snap up a 20GB PS3 with newly announced HDMI flavor:
Sony is saying that it plans to allocate 80 percent of its US retail PS3s for the $599 "premium" sku, with the remaining 20 percent left for the $499 "core" model.

ArsTechnica is garbage, site has been rubbish ever since Hannibal started taking a smaller role there. Also, the article was made well before the HDMI was added to 20GB version, we'll have to wait and see what real allocation is like.
