Is it just me, or do the interior materials look a bit higher quality now? The plastics look a bit softer.

Apr 17th 2006 1:28PM 1982 Plymouth TC3 - the "sporty" hatchback based on the Plymouth Horizon/Dodge Omni world car.
My father found it for me, the price was $300.
I'm not sure why it was the car for me...I was so desperate to have my own wheels that I would've driven anything.
I owned it for about a year. It's a miracle that it lasted so long, considering it's condition when I bought it and the awful things I did to it.
Memories - too many to list! I learned a lot about winter driving in that car due to my (now deceased) friend Jason and I taking several excursions onto frozen lakes, through snowdrifts, over snow piles, and into slushy spots. It had a rust hole in the floorboard, so water entry was a problem, but we still had a lot of fun. The tires were also totally bald, necessitating a lot of kind help from truck owners and farmers in extracting the car from whatever it was lodged in.
It finally died when it started on fire in front of my hometown's courthouse. It was a quite a scene, and earned me a bit of small-town notoreity.
It was replaced by a 1985.5 Porsche 944, bought from the brother of a friend. Thus began a lifetime of suboptimal car-related financial decisions...and absolutely no regrets.

I agree with all points so far. I don't care if it's initially more expensive than gas - imagine eliminating 30, 40, or 50% of our oil import needs while putting some of the most productive farmland in the world to full use. It's almost too good to be true. It would do wonders for our economy and our trade deficit.
