AVG 8.0 Free released, now with protection from spyware {Download Squad}
Apr 24th 2008 12:37PM Odd, mine doesn't have nag screens ever. :) On any of the systems I install Avira on.
If you're too lazy to spend two minutes taking care of that one problem, then I guess lesser AV protection is right up your alley. Me, I'll take the best free AV I can get my hands on, even though it obviously sucks as you say.

Apr 24th 2008 12:03PM From what I know / read, Avira Antivir is a better free AV then either of them. How the new 8 version of AVG stands up remains to be seen, though.
Deluge: Cross-platform BitTorrent client {Download Squad}
Apr 17th 2008 3:22PM I tried BitTyrant for a while. Contrary to it's reputation, in my experience it wasn't any faster and consumed more resources then uTorrent. I went back to the green U.

Create easy to remember, hard to guess passwords with Password Bird {Download Squad}
Apr 10th 2008 2:08PM Well, first, I'd say it's important to not measure this against "perfect" passwords but rather encourage people who use horrible passwords to at least move up to an app like this.
I mean, this is a huge improvement over "teapot" or "happygirl" kind of stuff.
Restore deleted files with Pandora Recovery {Download Squad}
Apr 9th 2008 2:24PM I don't disagree with anything you say.
Anyone reading the Pandora post may like to know about Recuva as a free alternative, so there I went.
Restore deleted files with Pandora Recovery {Download Squad}
Apr 9th 2008 2:01PM That's a lot of typing just to miss the point.
Recuva does everything Pandora does, plus the portable version is free also, whereas it's stated here that Pandora's portable flavor is not. Hence, I don't see any reason to use Pandora.
All of your comparisons are flawed, as you're assuming Pandora = Recuva. Last time I checked, free > cost.

Apr 9th 2008 1:15PM Recuva is free, does the same thing, and is also free to run from a USB stick. So...what's Pandora for, again?
In defense of Windows Me, no seriously {Download Squad}
Mar 19th 2008 10:34PM I actually think ME and Vista are polar opposites. ME had, as you say, some surface features that were useful, but deep down inside at the core, was really a piece of crap. Vista, has some surface crap that is best disabled (see vista4experts for help on that) but deep down at it's core, is a rock-solid OS.
I'm using x64 Vista right now, and I must say...it's been reliable day in, day out for two months (I did manage to semi-crash it once, but I think that was a freeware non-MS app that may have had iffy compatibility).

Mar 13th 2008 6:11PM Anyone who knows what Process Explorer is would, I think, have no reason to even try this.
