GM debuts fuel-saving XFE versions of Silverado/Sierra and Tahoe/Yukon {Autoblog}
Aug 12th 2008 11:21PM I own a Cobalt XFE as my daily driver, and for a couple days I was given a standard Cobalt (stupid wheel cover was rattling, should have went with the alloys...) and the difference was not noticeable, to me at least. I'm not a performance guy...or a tuner guy...I'm just Joe-driver.
Now...I had gone from a 94 Escort with 88HP and a 5 speed, to the 148HP 5 Speed Cobalt...which is a decent jump in performance, but in my driving...there was no difference in the feel of a Non-XFE Cobalt...to the XFE.

Aug 12th 2008 11:16PM Where is the source for this price increase talk?
Who's to say this isn't going to be a cookie cutter package where the only option is color?

Aug 12th 2008 11:07PM So wait...there's going to be a premium for XFE models next year?
I got my Cobalt XFE for 12,700ish after the Memorial day rebate (before rebate it was 15,700ish, base price + 600 in options, tax, title, and destination charge)
No bump for XFE on Cobalt, at the time at least. Although I still have yet to see another one with the XFE badge on it.
Cheap gas not enough to drive sales, desirable cars needed too! {Autoblog}
Jun 5th 2008 9:57AM With employee discount available to me from both Chrysler and GM, I was choosing between the Calbier and the Cobalt.
I found that I would spend less in gas (at $4.25/gallon) with the Cobalt XFE over the Caliber AND the $2.99 gas deal.
It didn't make any sense to go with the Caliber, Chrysler needs a compact that breaks the 30mpg mark, that would be easier to market than a deal on gas.

Jan 17th 2008 7:16PM But do any of those cars offer the same environmental impact (or lack of) as the Smart Fortwo?
Check out the Smart USA website and hover over Ecology, then select and read the pages on the links that show up.
The price of the car is worth what it offers from pre-production to the end of it's life. How much waste is created in the production of, or destruction of any of the cars mentioned in your post?
