Detroit 2008: Next-gen Honda Pilot Prototype appears {Autoblog}

Jan 13th 2008 7:36PM The looks aren't all bad. The pictures with the headlights turned on make it look slightly more cohesive. Definitely unique up front.

Nice that they include the 6-4-3 V-6. Fuel economy should be acceptable or better relative to competitors. No mention of transmissions. Will the new Pilot have a six speed like the Outlook, Acadia?

What is with the poor ergonomics? Honda was the master of control placement and ease of use 15 to 20 years ago, now they turn out this? Shifter on the dash blocking movement of your hand from the wheel to the shotgun scattered small knobs on the center stack? At least the gauge cluster looks good. I like the open storage area above the glove box too.

Detroit 2008: Hummer HX rappel into COBO (w/VIDEO) {Autoblog}

Jan 13th 2008 1:51PM Environmentalist rejoice! this is a Hummer that will surely be as fuel efficient as a Toyota Sequoia, Toyota Land Cruiser, Nissan Armada, Nissan Titan, Toyota Tundra, Toyota FJ Cruiser, Nissan Pathfinder, and more.

Oh who am I kidding, the bashers will come just because the post says "Hummer" in the title. They will argue that a Prius is the only choice you and I should be allowed to drive for the environments sake.

Why don't they argue that everyone should sell ALL cars and move to an urban center where public transportation, bicycles, and well soled shoes can be used to get you where you need to go? Likely because that would infringe on thier "freedom of choice" to live where they please...

Malibu and CX-9 win North American Car/Truck of the Year {Autoblog}

Jan 13th 2008 1:21PM The CX-9 is in because it is a gamechanger for Mazda to bring a very competitive vehicle to a segment they have been weak in previously. Think of it as a fresh new choice added to the 7 passenger segment. The same type of thing for the Malibu.

I do not think there is a looser in the entire bunch of finalists. No fault could really be found irregardless of who won.

Spy Shots: International LoneStar Class 8 tractor {Autoblog}

Jan 12th 2008 1:00PM Those lights (along with the big sun visor, all the chrome and polished metal) to truckers are what aero kits, spoilers, coffee can mufflers, and aftermarket wheels are to many compact car owners... that would be no functional purpose but in demand none the less.

Spy Shots: International LoneStar Class 8 tractor {Autoblog}

Jan 12th 2008 12:29PM Fleet owners could care less about looks but owner operators (guys that own and drive thier own trucks) usually love chrome! This truck has a retro look which could be a hit. Most designs in class 8 trucks are traditional (boxy) designs or swoopy aerodynamics. This combines elements of both.

There are many bad truckers out there who think that they are king of the road due to thier size. But many are just doing thier best to feed thier family. Perhaps you should cut them some slack and show some courtesy. Big rigs are way different than your Civic. Something you cannot grasp unless you've actually driven one. Gargantuan blindspots, inability to see the road 50 feet in front of you, sluggish accelleration, delayed braking response due to air brakes.

I do like a vehicle to look nice, but there's a whole lot more to a good truck than apretty shell.

NY Times jumps the gun: 2009 Ford F-150, others revealed! {Autoblog}

Jan 12th 2008 11:13AM That will be tough. The auto makers need all the "free press" to help launch new products or to make consumers salivate in anticipation.

This type of thing reflects poorly on the "ethics" of the American press. They are the ones who are pathetic with no morals, so long as they are the first to release a story. Such a shame that we rely on these bottom feeders for information isn't it?
