New York 2008: Scion unveils odd-looking Hako Concept {Autoblog}

Mar 19th 2008 7:15PM I'm just full of comments today
I dont think this car would be a great hit in the US market, but that doesnt make it a bad design ...at all! sorry to any of you who I might offend, but americans, generally have bad taste in design, and that is not limited to car design. (I'm american too). look around the parking lot next time you are at the store. one guy posted that 3/4 of the people on a french board love it, while all the americans hate it? but we love a genesis? I guess the reason I keep posting is that I'm shocked with how many of you really think this car is ugly. If I could, I'ld clean it up by eliminating that sharp angular flare in front of the rear wheel arch, and call it a day.
Another person posted that all of the american designs which are successful are based off of vintage cars. very true. I look forward to seeing an american car, that is successful and original...

Mar 19th 2008 7:02PM ps:
does the Genesis have cat whiskers or are those lines inspired by the stress cracks of the car (if it had a clean nose) upon impact?

New York 2008: Scion unveils odd-looking Hako Concept {Autoblog}

Mar 19th 2008 6:55PM Usually I agree with Autoblog opinions, but with this car, I need to speak out. I am a euro-snob from day one, but I would really drive this car! it's a clean design with nicities like a glass roof, but furthermore it is a simple and clever concept (japano-box with hot rod cues) that is executed rather well. What is the concept behind the Genesis? "lets design an ....um, coupe!" not very inspired. too many lines, too many random ideas. not cohesive. The Scion could be small but efficient. Mobile architecture if you will. I could probably even throw my bike in the back. Personally what I look for (and have generally found in my rabbit) is the proper blend of sportiness with practicality. Build it scion!

Swiss Army Porsche? Matte olive-green 911 (video) {Autoblog}

Dec 26th 2007 5:54PM Such a hot car/ paint job! I agree with Daniel Cote 100%. Who picked that song to accompany one of the hottest cars ever. I had dreamt of painting my old A4 in army matte green! Would have looked amazing, but I sold it and now have a Sage Green Rabbit. BMW briefly sold the Z4 in an interesting Urban Green a couple years ago http://www.bmwz4roadster.net/Z4_Pics/Z4_A04_Urban.jpg. Glad to see people breaking from the conventional pallate from time to time!

VW gives customers the axe: electric guitar comes with every vehicle {Autoblog}

Oct 3rd 2006 3:50PM as a general VW comment/rant:
I know VW is very capable of making an attractive car, and also...very boring ones. Every photo of every jetta and Rabbit is highly photoshopped, is white with tinted windows, has the large rims and body kit, and is photographed low with sexy camera angles. But w/o all of this they look like clunky rounded boxes and over priced corolla's. I still like last generations shapes better....better gti, jetta, golf, toureg and passat....across the board. thats my stylistic rant. I spoke of the guitar in a post above.

Oct 3rd 2006 1:18PM so, this is sort of cool, but I am a bit upset with VW in general. This promotion is trying to overshadow the companies other problems, such as pricing. I dont mind that most of their models have gone up in price...they are no longer the "car of the people," and havent been for some time, but they are cheaper than their German counterparts. however, when you advertise "who would believe you could get all this (rabbit) for $14,990" you should sell one for close to that. Dealers tell me it is nearly impossible to find a 2 door 5 speed rabbit. No inventory, and I am bored of what I see. Sorry, I want to love the company, but a guitar is not going to solve their problems. oh, and why not Fender Vee-dub?
