Sorry, your SUV is now worthless {Autoblog}
Apr 30th 2008 9:47AM Two reasons for higher diesel prices (there might be more than two but that's all I got for ya):
*The new ultra low sulphur diesel fuel is more expensive to produce than the old stinky black smoke diesel fuel.
*The demand for unleaded gas is very high so more crude oil is being processed to make that instead of diesel. Increased gas production + Decreased diesel fuel production = higher diesel prices at the pumps.
Chrysler continues 0% financing through April {Autoblog}
Apr 2nd 2008 11:10AM Historically, the acceptance rate of 0% financing is 10-15%. When the finance divisions reject 85-90% of the applicants, the promotion becomes more a marketing ploy than anything.
Loosening the credit requirements will help more people take advantage of the offer. They don't have to give away money like Ford has done in the past with their loans and leases. Just loosen the purse strings a little bit. If lenders aren't willing to loan money, nobody's gonna buy a damned thing anyway.
Carsumer Advocacy: eBay winner M3 update and Circuit City allegedly destroys a Civic {Autoblog}
Mar 28th 2008 7:19PM Great input, Ron. Your comments are dead on.
As for the estimate, why should the Civic owner get another one? The one he has now is fraudulent enough for him. As has been mentioned here already, the book time is far less than the estimated amount. Knowledgeable folks have already said the repair job won't take near the time and parts described in the estimate. A new windshield and sunroof? All new interior panels? Come on....
This repair can be done in a fraction of the time and for a fraction of the cost. But when it appears you are in cahoots with someone else to intentionally defraud a major corporation, ya gotta play every angle you can. Hello intarweb forums!
Be careful with this "carsumer advocacy" thing, Autoblog. No sense in promoting issues you do not have a full grasp of nor have access to all the information. Inciting e-riots is probably not part of AOL Autos charter. Best stick to the news and car gossip.
Microsoft heading to NASCAR {Autoblog}
Mar 27th 2008 6:43PM BAM Racing is in the process of switching from Dodge to Toyota. This weekend's race in Martinsville will be their first with a Toyota. BAM apparently is developing a partnership with Bill Davis Racing.
This is not the first time Microsoft has sponsored a car in Cup. From the 2006 season:

What's the deal with Porsches? Seinfeld's 911 up for sale {Autoblog}
Mar 27th 2008 12:04PM All that car needs is a big "43" on the doors and a STP logo on the hood. Ship it to North Carolina and it'll sell ASAP.
UPDATE: BMW North America notified of eBay winner's plight {Autoblog}
Mar 26th 2008 11:49PM I find it hard to believe that Fil, the dealer GM, expressly went against corporate counsels direction after a settlement had been reached with opposing counsel. At this point there is no skin off Fil's nose; do the deal and kick any problems back to the attorney's office.
Why he pulled this latest stunt is anyone's guess but I have to believe he had the approval of counsel to take this latest action. Otherwise, he is opening the company to additional legal action which will probably cost Fil his job.
I hope all this is worth it to him because his career is coming to a rapid close if this continues much longer. I can't see any dealer owner keeping a guy like this in a key position.
Black Flagged Online: The Onion of NASCAR {Autoblog}
Feb 25th 2008 7:51PM Lots of buffoons and inbreds love NASCAR. One I know upgraded his $400,000 Fleetwood motorcoach (too plain, he said) to a $700,000 Newell custom coach. The same "inbred" buys a new Cessna Citation and orders a new one at the same time, reason being he can use one then sell it at full retail when the next one is ready. Gotta be a real dummy to afford things like that.
Another NASCAR "buffoon" has a fleet of beautiful cars in various locations around the country. Let me tell ya, the 2nd gear acceleration of his Ford GT is incredible and must be experienced.
I used to know a NASCAR "inbred" who loved WWF wrestling, too. One day he decided he didn't like the long trip from his ranch to the local airport, so he built his own private airstrip on his property for his Gulfstream G-IV. It was awesome being picked up by his pilot and flown to Charlotte to watch a race, then flown home afterwards.
Yep, lots of multi-millionaires.... I mean "morons" love that NASCAR racing. They boogity-boogity-boogity themselves straight to the bank. Not many sports car racers I've met can do that.
Ford's "effing" problem needs a fix {Autoblog}
Feb 19th 2008 10:01AM As others have said, this naming preference isn't new. It goes back to the 1960s and before, which is a time before the college kids who run internet blogs can comprehend.
Falcon, Fairlane, Futura (trim level), and later, Fairmont, Fiesta, Festiva and others. In 1963 you could buy a Ford Fairlane 500 or a Ford Falcon Futura and have an F-gasm.
Mercury loved their "M's" - Montclair, Meteor, Montego, Marauder and Monterey. And Toyota is not completely exempt from alliteration, naming cars Camry, Corolla, Corona and Cressida. If you also include all the names that end in "A", like Tundra, Sienna and Tacoma, the Japanese giant is every bit as weird as the domestic brands.
Ron Paul racing for NASCAR vote? {Autoblog}
Feb 3rd 2008 11:56AM The #08 car in Sprint Cup will be driven by Carl Long on a part time basis. I don't know where the Aric Almirola connection came from; he drives for a different team.
Considering how small the #08 team is, I'm sure they could work out a deal with E&M Motorsports to sponsor Carl for a few races. He's a good guy and could definitely use the money.
Having said that, anyone donating a dime to a candidate who has struggled to get over 5% of the votes in the primaries had better *really* like NASCAR racing a lot more than Paul's chances at winning a national election. Ron Paul has ZERO chance of being the Republican nominee and he's said many times he won't run as a Libertarian.
