Y'all ready for this? Porsche Panamera will start at $127,000 {Autoblog}
Jul 22nd 2008 5:52PM Dunno what makes me LOL more, the fact that it'll be 127k in Europe, where cars are a hell of a lot more expensive due to taxation, or the fact that you think European prices reflect what we'll see in America.
Either way, LOLOLOLOLOL.
Spy Shots: LHD Toyota Mark X Zio for the U.S. market? {Autoblog}
Jul 22nd 2008 4:44PM Actually, the Mark X name predates any of the Lincoln models in the Japanese market, where the Mark X Zio is sold.
But if you think it'll be sold under that nameplate in the US, you're clearly out to lunch. IF it's sold in the US. Come on, Mark X Zio? You think it'd be called that in the US?
Jesus, you people get all excited and angsty about nothing.
In any case, I'm almost certain that this is going to be a hybrid if it's sold here.
Spy Shots: LHD Toyota Mark X Zio for the U.S. market? {Autoblog}
Jul 22nd 2008 2:56PM Prediction: this gets sold as a hybrid-only model in the US market, in addition to the Prius, and gets reskinned as a premium Lexus hybrid-only model.
In fact, bank on it.
Toyota planning second hybrid model, along with rebadged Lexus variant {Autoblog}
Jul 22nd 2008 2:55PM Before you blow a gasket, consider that Toyota hasn't rebadged a car, ever, as a Lexus without totally different sheetmetal and interior. Why would you assume that they plan to do so now?

Jul 22nd 2008 2:54PM Just saw spy shots of a LHD Toyota Mark X Zio wagon-crossover in Death Valley. Bet that'd go down pretty well as a US-market hybrid-only kid hauler.

Jul 20th 2008 1:47PM Oh, grow up. Prudes. It's a funny play on words, not a threat to the innocence of our children or something. America's becoming a nation of grandmas.
Volkswagen considering offering Polo in U.S. market {Autoblog}
Jul 18th 2008 5:09PM Only problem is, the Polo is not competitive - next to the Fit, it's small, cramped, and boring to drive. I've driven Polos, and they're not competitive cars for the US market - they drive like a Versa (squishy and comfy) but lack that model's power and size, it has less space and space efficiency than a Fit, and it would necessarily be far more expensive than a Yaris. It would be overpriced and under-delivering compared to its modern competition. Maybe the next Polo will come, or the Brazilian Gol.
Lutz: No Beat for the U.S., smaller CUVs on the way, Insignia stalled {Autoblog}
Jul 15th 2008 1:08PM Lutz didn't say the Cruze would be replacing the Cobalt. He said it wouldn't be REPLACING it for a while. Which means, to me at least, that they'll be sold alongside one another.
Low-rolling resistance tires going mainstream {Autoblog}

Porsche FTW - London scraps £25 congestion charge {Autoblog Green}
Jul 8th 2008 12:09PM So a foreign-owned company succeeds in meddling with the laws and substantially affecting an election, and it's greeted with uninformed anti-tax rah-rah?
Corporations don't get a vote. They have no prerogative to participate in the political process, and they arrogate to themselves far too much political sway. Why this is greeted with weak populist cheering is beyond me - if there's anything that truly threatens the little guy, it's corporate influence on government.
