GM and Chrysler say bankruptcy not in the cards {Autoblog}
Jul 11th 2008 11:09AM Don't know if any of you recall the pic of Lee handing the fed Chrysler's check for payment in full some time after the bailout. The bailout kept a lot of americans working on some good new cars (most were mediocre tho) until Bob Eaton decided to "give " the company to the germans. The rest is a historical fall for a once great american company who was handled by the inept Eaton's (and company) desire to make himself even more wealthy than he'd become. (what ever happened to that guy ? I don't think I've ever seen or heard him interviewed after his sellout fiasco.) Small wonder...
Spy Shots: Porsche 997 Targa uncloacked before unveiling {Autoblog}

Sales of GM hybrids almost non-existent in first quarter {Autoblog Green}
Apr 8th 2008 11:48AM About 45 days ago I was able to test 2 of these units (Tahoe and the Yukon). The MSRP of 54K knocked me out especially for a vehicle that has been decontented to this extent, ie; no memory seats, cheap and ugly wheels, bland looking interior etc. The hybrid operation, however, worked wonderfully, and I've owned an '07 Escape and an '08 Mariner (hybrids) to somewhat accurately make the comparison. Very impressive indeed, but not worth the bucks. And oh yeah, as of this week, both are sitting in the showrooms unsold.

Rockford, Illinois decrees: Don't pump up the volume {Autoblog}
Sep 20th 2007 7:07PM YES ! YES ! YES !!!!!!! NOW, WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT ENFORCING THIS LAW AND THE EXHAUST NOISE ABATEMENT LAWS (HARLEYS ETC) ? FAT CHANCE WE'LL SEE ANY REAL ACTION TAKEN.....
Gun owners want their other car to be a Chevy Volt {Autoblog}
Aug 14th 2007 7:10PM Hell, what's all this gibberish about global warming, the environment and the like? I used to hunt and then joined the Marine Corps. I didn't like the way my prey hunted back, and that gave me a whole new perspective about killing those innocent little/large critters. My interest in the Volt is our absurd dependence on Mideastern oil, and if this potentially incredible technology is put on the road we'll all heave a sigh of relief watching the millions of barrels of imported oil diminish yearly. Oh, and not to mention the saving of military lives and less coin in the terrorists pockets. C,mon, this is the proven and real value of the Volt.....
Chevron and Weyerhaeuser to team up on biofuel development {Autoblog Green}
Apr 14th 2007 10:14AM I sure hope that hard, concerted effort goes into this joint venture, and it doesn't turn out to be a public relations ploy. This venture, is precisely the kind of combined power that will get this technology out of the labs and onto the highway....
The diesels are coming. The diesels are coming! {Autoblog Green}
Mar 31st 2007 8:08PM Bill, #4, it's hard for me to understand that a 10% blend of ethanol in a gallon of regular gasoline cuts our mileage by a factor of .10 over a gallon of 100% gasoline. Could your explanation of a 10% loss be perhaps, on a higher percentage of ethanol per gallon?
The diesels are coming. The diesels are coming! {Autoblog Green}
Mar 31st 2007 10:28AM On the surface, all this recent press over diesel fuel efficiency makes it seem like it'll be our short term salvation. Until, that is, you get to your local pump and discover diesel fuel is commanding a sometimes 20 cent premium over regular gasoline.....
Mexican trucks now allowed on U.S. highways; smog impact unknown {Autoblog Green}
Feb 25th 2007 3:04PM I'm wondering if there's even one politician that doesn't have weak kness with regard to the Mexican border, politically and ecologically. Since I live in the southwest, this literal "open border" policy which we've been suffering under simply has to have some limit, and this article just illustrates how undisciplined our society has become, and obstensibly, there is no limit....
