CES: mobile TV and internet access for your car {Autoblog}
Jan 6th 2006 10:37PM Rule #1:Drive the car.
Rule #2: While behind the wheel see rule #1.
Surf the net at home, on your mobile whatever device on a parkbench, on a train, on a bus, wherever...when in a car drive the car!!! There are too many distractions in a car anyway. I'm not against technology, I'm against the guy who is stupid enough to have a newspaper spread across the steering wheel in traffic now thinks he can surf the net and play Halo online. If you are so bored with your vehicle, take public transportation and play with your gadgets while on the bus.
But those are cool wheels on the H3.....

Jan 6th 2006 4:29PM #2, #1 is not shortsighted, #1 has experienced many stupid people doing many stupid things while driving.
Rule #1 when driving a motor vehicle is: Drive the FREAKING CAR!
I see dummies all the time doing everything but driving while rolling down the highway. I've seen dead ones too! I had a friend seriously injured by a kid in a 3/4 ton pickup who hit a car from behind, knocking this vehicle into the oncoming lane, hitting my friend head-on. The kid was text messaging someone, never hit her brakes at 70mph.
I can see using GPS maps and such, but a gaming system and internet acces? I don't need to be entertained while driving because I AM BUSY DRIVING. Pleeeease...how bad do you need a Nintendo in the front seat or to surf the net? Get to where you are going and get online or play Mario-Cart.
The last few sentences:
"Even pumping in the internet is possible. .....the company's new "Dockable Family Entertainment System" - essentially a removable gaming system partnered with Nintendo."
Most people barely know how to drive anyway, all they need is another distraction in the cockpit. Go ahead and play with your tactile buttons, I'll be watching the car ahead of me listening to my 8-track Ted Nugent tape! Rock on Brother!
When computers and cars collide {Autoblog}
Jan 6th 2006 3:50PM Wow... would have a whole new meaning if your computer crashed. Do they make one in an AMC Pacer???

Jan 6th 2006 12:11PM The import tuner market is soo ate up with bolt on performance. No knowledge of engine building is needed. They think they can drop in a "chip" or a filter kit or a carbon fiber shifter knob or something and go down the road like a cruise missile. A lot of crap is marketed to these guys as performance. Old school hot rodding had its share of crap, but lots of guys could actually do some work on their cars. Junior thinks he can build a 6 second car in a few minutes in his driveway by screwing a widget on his 1.2 liter econo box. Look at all the body kits and spoilers and neon glowing JC Whitney junk that is passed off as performance.
Look at the list of parts on this car above and tell me what in that list would make this gas sipper go any faster or make it worth a scecond look?
The import veh's are more hype than anything. I'll grudgingly admit there are some import tuners that are impressive, but.... Give me a naturally aspirated big block Mopar engine and a quarter mile of pavement.... and some rice to eat. American cars sucked from the mid seventies until a few years ago. Quality is back in American cars, as is performance. Even Cadillac is cranking out a butt kicking little road rocket!! The problem is... styling. They need to work on that!
Still waiting for the Challenger!!

Jan 6th 2006 11:36AM That thing got a HEMI??
And these people wonder why noone takes Hybrid or alternative cars seriously??
The only one I've seen that looks remotely interesting, and not some kind of eco-toy that makes the driver feel good, is the Saab that runs on a bio fuel and gets more horsepower. A 2.3l turbo four cylinder that gets 310hp and 325ft lbs of torque. Now that's a green car that is worth looking into.

Jan 6th 2006 10:23AM Hey, another thing to keep the driver from paying attention to the road!! Why not have a shiatzu massage feature on the driver seat. Maybe a HUD X-box 360??
Drive the car and play with gadgets at home!!

Anybody remember the movie Damnation Alley?? Makes me think of the thing they were driving around in.
If someone broke into it would you file burglary of a habitation charges or burglary of a residence?
Wow, you would only have to have one key to lose!
I hope they make it so people who drive an Aztek will have someone to make fun of.
Toyota's Yaris TRD {Autoblog}
Jan 5th 2006 11:27PM Did they forget to put the 'U' in Yaris TRD????
I bet this TURD is crankin' out about 25 horsepower! Does it have a coffee can sized exhaust tip that makes it sound like a bumble bee in a coffee can?? Stick a big ole' wing on it somewhere and I bet it'll go faster hahahaha....
Lookout for this beast on the street! OOOWEEEE it's got a sport air filter and a sport oil filter! Lookout all you 1/8th mile dragstrip wonders, here comes some real competition!! I bet it even has a carbon fiber cupholder with neon lighted tiptronic windshield wipers.
That Dodge Challenger can't get here soon enough!!
