V-8 engines fading into the past as GM ramps up V-6 production {Autoblog Green}

Jun 11th 2008 5:27PM If only they add cylinder deactivation to a smaller motor than the 3.9L for the smaller vehicles. Both would be nice with the 2 mode hybrid system.
Adding the VM 2.9L crd to most all the GM line up would be nice. H-3, all vans, silverado 1500, colorado, impaula, malabu, all Buicks, a few pontiacs, ect...

If only they offer the 2.4L 2mode hybrid and hopefully the new pheonix 3.3L MDS two mode hybrid.
This would turn sales around.

Cheap gas not enough to drive sales, desirable cars needed too! {Autoblog}

Jun 7th 2008 9:04AM As you know Chrysler div. made the ESX hybrids. Then they join with GM BMW Daimler to make the 2 mode hybrid for FWD & RWD. GM makes the Opel Astra Diesel Hybrid concept and everyone hopes it will be out soon or at least a 4cyl gas motor. By the time the two mode hybrid was out the prius was well into the market. So why isn't there movement with chrysler & GM to offer 4cyl cars with the 2 mode hybrid? Instead they just do SUV'S and trucks. The closest thing GM puts out is the Saturn Vue. Instead of the Cavalier & HHR.
It's almost like they want to build something too expensive to buy and still provides poor fuel mileage.

Why when chrysler made the 5.7L MDS they didn't replace the 4.7L with a motor that will have MDS. Personally I think they should have made a 4.0L MDS & 4.6-4.8L MDS V-8's. Those would have made good motors to have with two mode hybrids. I hope the pheonix motors with MDS will help. GM has the 3.9L cylinder deactivation. So why doesn't GM use the 2mode hybrid in the impaula 3.9L?

Jun 6th 2008 3:44AM I still wonder why they decided to go with hemi hybrid SUV's over puting money into hybrid avenger, caliber, sebring & journey.
As for the Chrysler EcoVoyager it's probably the best of the 3 from the car show for family use.
