America's Most Smartest Model is quite dumb {Styledash}

Oct 29th 2007 5:28AM Really? I think this is possibly the only one of these shows that really entertains. It's a delicious study showing the contrast between the fetching appeal of beauty, dashed by the bummer of a dumb-dumb.

We've all been jealous of the beautiful at some point -but when it boils down, the pretty people often have pretty much nothing but their looks to really substantiate any appeal.

Mary Alice is a fan, a critic and a talent on the show. Ben Stein offers the vulnerability to beauty ( clearly I disagree with the reviewer- as Stein's googly eyes for Mandy Lynn demonstrated repeatedly) but together they balance the virtues admirably.

The handsome don't get the give-away on this show.. till the end. Rich, funny, painful.. seems like dang good television to me.

Volkswagen planning minivan and plug-in version of Up! {Autoblog}

Oct 2nd 2007 10:22AM I'm itching for cars like this. Good on VW for growing the idea. Tight design, manic fuel economy and two tier equipment levels all sound really smart.

Sentimentally (ish) though, I dug that VW cars were all named after the wind.. it's been a while but Scirocco, Bora, Jetta, Golf, Passat were such a subtle, cool message of unbridled movement. 'Up!' seems like a marketing direction, not a great car name.

Sep 26th 2007 3:16PM I have long thought the whole trend for pushbutton 'ON' systems seemed silly. Just one more pause while the shebang gets going.

NOW, after reading that, I'm convinced, they are super dumb. One would think the birth rate would be going down if people are sooo lazy they can't even stick it in and twist.

Inside Line drives the JDM 2009 Honda Fit {Autoblog}

Sep 23rd 2007 10:39AM Something about the new styling just makes it seem way more refined.

If it has no spare and runflats, that might send me running. After suffering that nuisance (and it's a GIANT one) after living with a MINI, I'd probably not buy it. Runflats are extremely expensive, get flats just as often, aren't stocked commonly -so if you get a flat in the middle of a long drive between metro areas.. you're just screwed till help tows you. NOT fun.

As they choose equipment levels, I hope they consider the movement of people with more posh cars looking to move down market, whilest retaining the treats such as sunroof, heated seats, leather. In Europe smaller cars are still available with way higher levels of good stuff.

Sep 12th 2007 10:36PM Something new and innovative is being created? That's very kind. Working with artists all the time, I'm pretty familiar with 'creative' and this thing just screams 'derivitive'.

It would be creative if it had solar powered electronic components, recycled materials for the upholstery, if it spread petunia seeds from its exhaust pipe and offered a turntable as part of the audio system. This is marketing-driven product design. A clever one at that, but 'creative' is too generous.

As one of my cars is a BMW -I'll eagerly say, they can be amazing vehicles. This is not.

Three more models to follow Alfa 8C Comptezione in 2009 {Autoblog}

Sep 6th 2007 1:23AM In response to Quattroporte and Steve..

There is a nugget of optimism- I read somewhere that Alfa will be doing a Jenny Craig on the Brera & Spider before they arrive stateside. From what I recall, they are totally aware of the excessive weight and plan to remedy the sitch before too long. -For what it's worth...

Sep 5th 2007 11:59PM Shucks. No wagon?? The convertible might be sex-on-wheels, but that hot wagon is a car you could actually get busy IN. It's sooo good looking...

We can hope. Maybe they'll realize the whole 'sportUTILITY' craze is winding down and no better time to offer a wagon.

2008 Acura RDX - A sports car in a CUV costume {Autoblog}

Sep 5th 2007 10:43AM Sports car in a CUV costume? NOW I understand that cheezy styling.. it's just a 'COSTUME'. Thanks for clearing that up. Like a monster costume.

All I can say is it's the most juvenile, clunky, gimmicky, badly proportioned car on the road. Ick. To its advantage, it's got a Honda under it somewhere.

Sep 4th 2007 1:55PM By far the finest looking (almost Teutonic) Honda in years. It looks modern, un-gimicky and chic.

As a confirmed wagon/hatch fan, I wouldn't want or need a third seat. They're total death traps anyway (exactly why Saab didn't ever put them in the 9-5 wagon).
