Probably coming near you: A smart dealership {Autoblog}
Jan 16th 2008 12:59PM The real joke is people dismissing a car that serves a very specific purpose very well. Everytime someone bashes an SUV, someone else points out how some people "need" an SUV to haul a big family, tow stuff, etc.
Fair point. But the Smart is also a purpose-driven car. It's like a Suburban in reverse. If your commute doesn't involve freeway travel, it's nearly perfect for one person to drive to work in.
Joke? I don't think so.
Clarkson tries out the BMW 135i and likes it! {Autoblog}
Dec 31st 2007 2:16PM It's fun to see the haters getting all red in the face about the 1-Series while the positive reviews continue to pour in.
Many of us who plan on buying one could easily afford a 335i, but are buying a 135i instead. Why? Because even though it's "only" 8" shorter and 200 lbs lighter than a 3-Series, that size difference matters.
Crudely speaking, it means the 1-Series is as fast as a 3-Series with a 200 lb dude in the passenger sear.
Grassroots Motorsports, a magazine that knows a thing or two about how a car should perform on a race track, said this:
"The 135i is simply one of the finest track cars we've driven in recent memory."
Nuff said.

1-Series on BMW website with official pricing {Autoblog}
Dec 17th 2007 4:29PM Hey Neff, how about you post a pricing poll asking if each new car, when fully optioned, is a good deal?
Man, this post was a complete set-up. The quality of this blog continues to go down hill.
1-Series on BMW website with official pricing {Autoblog}
Dec 17th 2007 2:48PM Let's see, the 135i costs the same as an Evo or STI. The performance of all three cars is broadly similar, but the BMW trades the Japanese cars' AWD for German suspension tuning, perceived quality, and brand value. What's so wrong with that?
People pay $35k all the time for SUVs. Unless you price your automobiles by the pound, the BMW is a much better value that low tech dinosaurs like the Tahoe.

Dec 5th 2007 6:02PM Why do I care? Because it's weird. It like buying a house and not living in it. Oh, wait, people were doing a lot of that recently, weren't they? It's called speculation and it usually ends badly.
