Ex-Tesla CEO irked over which Roadster he's getting {Autoblog}

May 12th 2008 4:37PM I was about to say that a regular customer would probably be happier with a car built after the initial build issues had been ironed out, but then I thought about the Tesla. Anyone spending that kind of money for a Tesla won't really care if it's imperfect, they'd prefer the bragging rights of the low serial number.

May 12th 2008 4:35PM While I wouldn't argue your point about the direction Tesla's heading, I think it's unfair to Silicon Graphics to state is as you have. They actually made cutting-edge hardware for years before the market caught up with them and it became a volume business rather than an absolute-capability business. Yeah, I'm a geek, how'd you guess?

Subaru Exiga heading to production, teaser leaks out {Autoblog}

May 12th 2008 4:21PM If this thingo is supposed to be the new Outback and be off the Legacy platform (slotted between Legacy and Tribeca, it says) maybe Subaru will catch a clue and give us back the Legacy Wagon. Mine's 3 now, but I'm not putting lots of miles on these days, so it'll probably be 4-5 years before I need a new one. They have that long, because I'm not buying a sedan, and I'm not buying a tippy-tall wagon in SUV drag.

Details: Audi's new supercharged 3.0-liter V6 {Autoblog}

May 12th 2008 11:51AM If English is not your first language, you're excused. If it is, you should consider writing more carefully if you wish to be taken seriously when you're telling others they don't know what they're talking about, because it seems that you don't know how to talk about things you may or may not know about. Your syntax and grammar are significantly lacking, especially in the context of an academic discussion.

May 12th 2008 10:04AM Perhaps it's because Audi already offers a relatively efficient 2.0T in the A4? Or maybe the greenies just aren't awake this early. It's only 0700 on the west coast after all.

eBay Find of the Day: The Jerrari {Autoblog}

May 12th 2008 9:51AM Wow... I'd heard of this beast, but I'm sure I've never seen a photo. I thought it just had the Ferrari engine, not the whole nose. It looks much worse than I'd imagined. One more reason to hate SUVs that want to be cars instead.

Spy Shots: Opel Insignia five-door hatch caught {Autoblog}

May 11th 2008 12:00PM Stupid comments system. The only way to notify someone you've replied to their comment is to click the timestamp on their comment... but if they're not the original commenter in a subthread your comment gets placed somewhere random. BROKEN. BROKEN. BROKEN.

It's hardly fair to compare a Trollhattan Truck to ... well, anything. A friend of mine in college had one, and we carried a loveseat in the back at one point. I don't think we got the hatch closed over that one, but it did fit in. The current Sportkombi suffers from GMification compared to the quirky but iconic 900s.

While I don't doubt I could get Trudy's travel kennel into the Insignia hatch, I'd bet money that the hatch wouldn't close unless at least one seat was folded down and the kennel was resting on the folded seatback.

And I LIKE the shape of a well-designed wagon, and might buy one even if I didn't have a big dog.

May 11th 2008 11:17AM Or (less likely but more interesting) will the WAGON come to Saturn dealers, getting Saturn on my list of possibles. My beastie's travel kennel wouldn't fit under that hatch with the rear seats up, so it's barely better than the sedan to me.

GM may divorce trucks and full-size SUVs {Autoblog}

May 9th 2008 1:51PM They're talking about putting the large SUVs on a unibody platform and leaving the trucks as body-on-frame.
