Saleen launches Super Shaker system for the Mustang {Autoblog}
Jul 23rd 2008 4:38PM "mk" you have no idea. Grand-Am/Koni Challenge cars are very similar to their street counterparts. The driveline on a FR500C is identical to a GT500, and the suspension is mostly over-the-counter Ford Racing parts. The frame is identical to a V6 mustang (apart from the roll cage) and the engine is from the old NA Cobra. Caymans (if they ran them) would not even be classed the same as the mustangs, M3s and 997s.
And btw. Koni is not anything like NASCAR.

Jul 23rd 2008 12:56PM Thanks for the spoiler Brad...I was gonna watch it tape delay this Sat....lol
Could just told him FR500C have been dominating this type of racing for awhile now...The little ricers (TSX, Si) and cars like the RX-8 and 350Z: not even close.
Chevrolet Camaro SS laps the 'Ring in... 8:20 {Autoblog}
Jul 23rd 2008 11:30AM Read my comment again. I'm talking about best -handling-, not who's fastest.
Chevrolet Camaro SS laps the 'Ring in... 8:20 {Autoblog}
Jul 22nd 2008 6:33PM Oh geez the Nurburgring. This is getting ridiculous. You guys know its a "power track" right? It favours big nasty high HP cars (as well as AWD cars). German sport sedans anyone? Note the fastest cars are all well over 500hp unless they are AWD. Now look at an Exige: It can't top out at the speeds of the other ones in the straight sections of this power track. Are you going to turn around and tell me the Exige has crappy handling compared to a Vette cause its 0:40s slower than a Z06 and a full minute slower than the ZR1? lol. Heck the only reason for the difference of the Z06 and ZR1 is the extra horses.
Race it at Hockenheim, VIR, or geez even the Top Gear track, and you'll get a better idea of the handling of the Camaro. These numbers have it as fast as a M3 and a R32 skyline GT-R. I'm sure it did something close to 8:20, but that doesn't make it the be all and end all of handling prowess.

Jul 22nd 2008 2:14PM Wow. Getting your auto infos from TG is lame. You do know the different between rear wheel horsepower and crank horsepower don't you? All companies only ever advertize crank. GT500 is SAE certified 500 hp crank (and usally dynos 445-453 rwhp), just like the Camaro is certified 422 crank hp (no doubt will dyno 380 rwhp). As for the Cobalt comment: you do know a GT500 will hang with a 997 TT on a real track don't you? Look that up sometime.

Jul 22nd 2008 11:48AM The premium juice mentioned is seemingly in contradiction of GM's (new) legend of superior fuel economy in their V8s.
Think about it for a moment.

Jul 22nd 2008 9:54AM Betting the "23 mpg highway on the 6.2L automatic" is the one with the Active Fuel Management.
Oh and did we mention that its 23 miles per gallon premium fuel?

Jul 22nd 2008 9:45AM I see you're buying into the new GM legend of superior fuel economy vs Ford. The mustang GT runs on 87, this Camaro, the good stuff, 91 octane, and in a fuel crisis and recession...AHAHAH. So much for the "thirsty" modular. And did you forget the Z06 is built out of plastic? Can't be. It just the engine so much more efficient and awesome...lol
Top Gear USA casting audience members for pilot {Autoblog}
Jul 21st 2008 8:50PM This show will suck like all car shows in N.A. since it'll be contaminated by corporate money. The BBC version doesn't get any money so you can always count on information to be somewhat legit, if not biased towards euro cars; but they do make sentimental picks that we would. US TG on the other hand will be an utter sham from start to finish.
