UPDATE: Mercury Meta One not happening {Autoblog}

Oct 20th 2006 5:18PM With a Bio-Diesel, Full plug-in Hybrid, getting about 60 MPG the Mercury Meta One would have been a big hit!

Ford just can't get out of their own way.

Maybe they will bring back the Pinto?

Ford forced to weather the storm through 2008 {Autoblog}

Oct 17th 2006 2:21PM Ford just needs some PASSION for great cars!

They have all the resources in place for success - they just need to let it fly! Give your customers some great cars. If you build them, they will come!

Hybrid diesel trucks with no transmissions in our future? {Autoblog}

Oct 16th 2006 2:31PM In 1993, under DOE's "Partnership for a New Generation of Vehicles" (PNGV Program), the Big 3 each developed a Diesel-Electric Hybrid that eliminated the mechanical drive line in favour of either series or parallel electric drive with electric motors/generators at each wheel. The cars were the Ford Prodigy - 70 MPG, the DaimlerChrysler ESX3 - 72 MPG, and the GM Precept - 79.6 MPG.

These full size sedans achieved between 70 and 80 MPG n 1993!!!!

The advantages for all size vehicles can be significant in terms of simplicity, milage, low maintenance, intelligent all wheel drive, safety, much lower emissions, etc. etc. Combine the use of Bio-Diesel with these hybrids and the USA would not need to import a single drop of foreign oil nor would we need to send our money to those in the Gulf who want to kill us. What are we waiting for?

The first company to offer this type of Bio-Diesel Hybrid is going to be a great success in more ways than just profit. The potential is vast as this technology can reshape surface transportation in America without needing to change basic infrastructure.

Oct 14th 2006 12:35AM Ref: #26 - John:

You can add a new Mercury Cougar when you spread the RWD platform for the Mustang, 427, Continental etc. If the 427 was a good success then you could add a 427 based Mercury Marauder as an up-sclae variant.

Now that I think of it - with products like these Ford would be back to leading the world in great cars as it did in the 50s and 60s.

I wish I still had my '69 Mustang Mach 1, that I bought when I got back from Viet Nam. What a great ride that was!

Oct 13th 2006 8:54PM Does anyone at Ford Motor Company read this stuff?

What if... Ford had made all the Right Moves {Autoblog}

Oct 13th 2006 8:40PM I believed most of your thoughts are "spot on" and I agree.

I woulld also add a new Mustang based, retro style Mercury Cougar. As it was 40 years ago this would be an up-scale version of the RWD Stang and it would now compete with the G35, IS350, and BMW 3 series.

I would also produce the REFEX with Bio-Diesel Hybred - 65 MPG. They would not be able to produce these fast enough to meet demand!

Ford just needed to up-date the RWD Lincoln LS - it was a great car and with a freshening it could easily go up against the BMW 5 series and the GS300/400 class.

Ford really just needs to got for it with in-your-face American bold styling (as in the 427 concept) and not water down the products as to not offend anyone.

Also - all of these products should be offered with a reasonable choice of engines (small-medium-large). They should also be offered with Bio-Diesel Hybrids that get 60 MPG to over 80 MPG.

Ford would be making a lot of $$$$$. Let's hope they are able to find the one thing they have been missing for a couple of decades - and that is PASSION, PASSION, PASSION for great cars!!!!

Diesel confirmed for light-duty F-150 by 2009 {Autoblog}

Oct 13th 2006 8:12PM About 10 years ago, under a DOE program, the Big 3 each developed a diesel electric hybrid for full size sedans. They all worked great and each achieved about 80 MPG!!!!!

Why can't I buy one????

The first company that offers a good Bio-Diesel Hybrid with great milage is going to make a lot of money.

It will also be nice when we do not need to import a single drop of oil from those "Pxxks" in the Gulf.

Let me see here - better fuel economy, longer engine life, expanded markets for American farm products, more jobs in the USA, and no more sending our $$$$ to people in the Mid East who want to kill us. Hummmmm????

That's what diesel does for us.

Got that Ryan?

Mulally already shaking up Ford {Autoblog}

Oct 12th 2006 8:52PM It aint brain surgery folks. Ford just needs to put a little PASSION into their products. The 500 would be a great car with a more powerful engine and a spiffy front end and roof line. Produce the REFLEX (with Diesel Hybrid – 65 MPG) that is a no brainer – they would sell a million of them!!! Give the MKS more dramatic styling (like the Masserati Quattro) and a world class V8 of up to 400 hp. Produce a retro style Mercury Cougar off the Mustang platform – low cost and this would sell a bunch and attract customers to Merc dealerships. A well done Cougar (with V8) would compete quite nicely with the G35, IS350 and BMW 3 series. Offer the new Ford of Europe Mondeo as a Mercury - that would be a real hit. PASSION, PASSION, PASSION. The folks at Ford must consider their products Works of Art – not just units of production.

I would very much like to see Ford as a big success. They just need to go for it!!!!!
