Redesigned Mazda5 coming to Bologna Motor Show {Autoblog}

Redesigned Mazda5 coming to Bologna Motor Show {Autoblog}

Dec 3rd 2007 2:57PM Perhaps this doesn't excite YOUR little world, but the rest of the world seems to be plenty happy with a smaller minivan. I don't know I think Mazda hit this bang on the head with their little 5. I know for sure of at least 5 or 6 new families that would love to have one of these in their driveway. I guess if it were 3 times bigger, accelerated 0-60 in sub 6 seconds and cornered like it was made of Jello then it would sell great in the States. Look outside your boarder, there is a whole world where people like to drive smaller cars with 4 cyl engines that don't drain an oil field to get groceries. I see these cars every day so they must be selling quite well. From the country that awarded "green car of the year" to a FULL SIZE SUV I think you should shut up about how well a car is received around the globe, you know not of what you speak!

Hey MINI, why don't you get mini again? {Autoblog Green}

Sep 19th 2007 12:34AM I'm sorry but I'm fed up of people going on about the Clubman and how it's not in keeping with the mini concept. DO SOME FREAKIN' RESEARCH. What is this then. http://www.caradisiac.com/media/images/le_mag/mag248/mini-concept-frankfurt-5b.jpg

Oh look a classic mini wagon, how strange.

New York Auto Show: VW forbidden fruit on the floor {Autoblog}

Apr 7th 2007 3:36PM Although this car seems tempting, and God knows I wish there were more diesels in North America. I'm not sure this Car would fit into the power obsessed market. the power is just not there to merge safely onto the highways and keep up with the overpowered cars currently on the roads.

Here is an interesting review by Channel 4 from the UK (where they are generally more accepting of slower 0-60 times.)

Draw your own conclusions.

Is this Honda Racing F1's new livery? {Autoblog}

Feb 24th 2007 2:58PM Found this on Auto123.com

With the latest rumours hinting at the signing of a major American sponsor, a photo of Honda's radical new livery for 2007 confirms speculation that 'Google Earth' imagery will be used.

Chicago Auto Show: Live unveiling of the 2008 Saturn Astra {Autoblog}

Feb 7th 2007 10:33PM This car has a nice interior, the plastics are rubberized and have a good quality feel, better than most in the current US GM portfolio. It is highly rated by the traditionally picky UK press and can hold its own against the Euro Focus and Golf/Rabbit (Euro hatch benchmarks). I believe for '08 it even has revised independent rear suspension, not torsion beam as some people have stated.

Here are the figures for the UK Vauxhall Astra.
Engine Capacity 1796 cc
Cylinders 4 Valves 16v
Power 140@6300 ps/rpm
Torque 129@3800 lb/ft
Maximum Speed 129 mph - (Man)
Maximum Speed 117 mph - (Auto)
0 - 60 mph 9.5 seconds - (Man)
0 - 60 mph 10.7 seconds - (Auto)
Fuel Capacity 52 litres / 11.4 gallons
Combined Fuel Consumption 38.7 mpg – Manual (UK) (32.2 mpg - US)
Combined Fuel Consumption 36.2 mpg – Automatic (UK) (30.14 mpg - US)

I for one am excited to see a quality product like this compete against the mediocre stuff currently in the market.

As Canadians love hatches, I see it selling very well here too.

Aug 31st 2006 9:45AM Porker, that is the most idiotic thing I think I've heard today! P.S. It's money grabbing, not grubbing, unless it's dirty money?
