It should read:
car size *is not the same as* interior volume
VIDEO: Ford reverse camera in action {Autoblog}
Jul 2nd 2007 12:23PM All in inches.
1996 corola: 172.0 L, 66.3 W, 53.5 H, 97 WB
2007 corola: 178.3 L, 66.9 W, 58.5 H, 102 WB
Car size interior volume.
Cars do get bigger with time. This is why Honda can fit the Fit under the Civic, that's where the civic was 20 years ago.
Cars also "look" bigger because they are designed to have higher belt lines, higher hoods and higher trunks. All for space (bigger engine compartment, bigger trunk...)
Park a Camry from 15 years ago next to a current one and notice the hood of the new one is a good 5-8 inches higher.
This is also driven by safety standard, where current truck hoods are as high as a sedan's roof line.

Don't forget to turn up the volume, the "background" music of this video is priceless. Your ears will bleed.

Jun 26th 2007 12:54AM No worry, the magic electonics will make sure a lot less than 260 lb/ft gets channeled through the 1st and 2ng gears. Even less if the wheels are turned. Throttle by wire... Mmmm... disconnect.
Smart-er parking enforcement in Toronto {Autoblog}
Jun 21st 2007 5:08PM The Portland OR parking enforcement rides golf cart like, 3 wheelers kind of vehicles. I have even seen some of them walk (shocker)
The city of Portland owns a few smart though, and prius and other more mundane impalas/stratus things.

Jun 21st 2007 4:14PM If you have that particular engine in your car, I would suggest to park it on the street. Just to be safe.
Holden's billion dollar VE Commodore no safer than previous model {Autoblog}
Jun 21st 2007 4:11PM If you can't blame the data, attack the process.
Of course it's not "real world" accidents. It's in a lab, with a concrete slab mounted on a wheeled tray pulled by cables.
Turns out, less safe = less safe.
Motor Trend pitches Hyundai's Veracruz vs. Lexus RX {Autoblog}
Jun 21st 2007 4:06PM It's a very relevant comparison in the first place. People cross shop Hyundai and Lexus all the time.
Same thing with Pontiac and BMW.
I personally find my Murano a better choice than the RX, but I'm willing to admit the Lexus has a lot more Luxury cachet (smug appeal).
Some stigma are impossible to shed. It could be the best SUV in the world, it's perception that counts. Hyundai = cheap.

Jun 21st 2007 3:59PM It's pretty scary when an attorney general speaks such an ignorant and outrageous language. Hopefully Canadians have a constitution, or at least judges with common sense.
Or maybe they're slowly slipping and soon will add thoughtcrime to the books.
In any case the man is an idiot. You can't confiscate nail guns under the premises you might shoot one through another fellow's skull. So why cars? And what brilliant criteria would you use in the first place?
Let's all make sure the guy knows we think he's an idiot.
