Airbags and ABS under fire {Autoblog}
Oct 23rd 2006 11:33PM Plus, what happens when you "pump" ABS brakes? You don't stop well at all. I know my parents bought a new car that came with standard ABS, and they didn't understand it does the brake pumping for you. I bet a lot of people in panic situations will instinctively pump their brakes, and if so, maybe that explains some of the supposed increase in accidents.
Airbags and ABS under fire {Autoblog}
Oct 23rd 2006 11:31PM File this under the column with the people who complain that stability control will make crazed freaks out of us all.
When power brakes were invented, did people complain that everyone would start braking later/following other vehicles too closely with all that extra stopping power? Probably. Were they right? No.
Opel Astra Sedan unveiled. Is this the new Saturn Ion? {Autoblog}
Oct 20th 2006 12:51PM I bet this will arrive as-is. The Saturn Aura basically has the same front-end. Neat. I wish these cool smaller cars (especially the hatches) would get here soon. I need a new car!
Camry ECU won't let drivers give it the boot {Autoblog}
Oct 17th 2006 12:10PM Actually, it's not a dream, Jeff. See, GM is still number one.
Scary, huh.
Chrysler will share next PT Cruiser with Dodge {Autoblog}
Oct 16th 2006 12:34PM And not every car has to have a hideous dark flat nose, but tell that to Dodge. I can't wait to see what their version of the PT Cruiser will look like. I bet it'll be hideous! It'll also be too close in function to the Caliber, so I don't see the point at all.
Hyunda, Kia roll back 2006 sales target {Autoblog}
Oct 12th 2006 6:43PM #1, if you're implying this money is going to Kim Jong Il, I suggest you learn the difference between North and South Korea. They're separate nations, moron.
Ford recalling 145,000 vehicles in the U.S. {Autoblog}
Oct 11th 2006 11:58AM Uh, Shawn, you can't count 292,000 three times for the Corolla/Matrix/xB.
Spawn of eK: New Nissan Otti released in Japan {Autoblog}
Oct 4th 2006 1:45PM I have nothing against these quirky looking cars (considering what a lot of the weirder European/Asian cars look like) but saying this looks a lot better than the "ugly" Scion xB is just ridiculous. How on earth is this thing considerably better? Half of it is identical (look at that rear shot!), and the other half looks over 10 years old. The front on that Otti S is what the Nissan Quest/Mercury Villager would look like had they come out in the late 80s.

Oct 3rd 2006 6:07PM Yeah, I'm extremely surprised to see Hyundai take a hit. I usually follow Hyundai pretty closely and they hardly have any drops period, let alone this size. But it kind of makes sense -- the strikes in South Korea slowed production, sales were up 50% worldwide versus 9/05, so their output was stretched thin, and apparently they made way less Accents and Elantras than demand warranted. The Santa Fe, Sonata and the Azera are selling well, though.
