Rendered Speculation: 2012 Jaguar F-type {Autoblog}
May 13th 2008 2:56PM Bah a V6 would be stupid in this car. The inline six that Volvo and Land Rover have would be perfect. That motor was designed to work in both transverse for FWD/AWD and longitudinal for RWD applications. The NA version of that motor makes around 230 hp and revs nicely. The turbo version makes about 285 and I am sure could be bumped up over 300 which should be just about right for the higher performance version.
Maybe the R model gets a lower power version of the new direct injection V8 or just a direct injected turbo inline six with even more boost.

Forbes comes up with top-ten most expensive luxury cars to repair {Autoblog}
May 6th 2008 9:55AM Oh man I just read that part too man they are so dumb. You can still find some main stream full line brands with labor rates in the 60-70 dollar range but the norm is 90 dollars plus. In areas that have a lower standard of living 60-70 bucks wouldn't be unusual for a non-luxury brand but 100 dollars plus for a luxury brand is the norm now.
We are at 85-105 depending of the skill level of the job.

May 6th 2008 9:44AM You know I have a hard time buying a Forbes article in general but I have a really hard time when they confuse a LR2 and LR3 for platform mates.
The LR2 doesn't share a single component with the LR3 at all so how can you lump them in together? The LR2 uses portions of the Volvo S80, they share engines and transmissions, on the EUCD platform. The LR3 is on the T-5 platform with the Range Rover Sport and uses the engine/transmission from the Range Rover. That engine is a modified version of the Jaguar V8 used in the XK, XF, S-type and XJ.
Honda tells some dealers to upgrade, or else... {Autoblog}
May 6th 2008 9:23AM This is perfectly within Honda's rights under their franchise agreements. It is perfectly normally for a manufacturer to demand certain standards be upheld ad the dealership. Land Rover recently pulled the franchise of one dealer in the New England area because they were not meeting certain guidelines and their service department was pathetic.
Jaguar and Land Rover could strike a deal with Daimler {Autoblog}
May 5th 2008 2:18PM Have you seen the switch gear in the mid level and under Mercs lately? It looks straight out of the Chrysler parts bin. Jag/LR would be better off with their current bits.

May 5th 2008 1:41PM Hmhhh mercedes bluetec diesel tech for US market Land Rovers please.
That is the last stumbling block for Diesel rovers in the US according to my sources. They just can't get the emissions clean enough to meet 50 state requirements yet.

May 5th 2008 11:12AM I am with Silver. What moron father hands the keys of a borderline race car to his kid? I am glad no one was hurt but maybe they will learn something from this. Oh and no one borrows my car either. The only time someone other then myself has used any of my cars is when my car was being used by the DD. I had the only car capable of sitting more then six people, full size American car with two bench sits FTMFW, and so I let someone else drive as I was already intoxicated.
The Truth About Smart: fortwo rumors dispelled {Autoblog}
May 2nd 2008 7:42PM Just think about this. The Smart is rated at 41 mpg highway and most likely the new Clean Diesel VW Jetta will be rated at 50 mpg plus highway.
So uhh besides the look at me design of the Smart what does it have over the Jetta? You can take four passengers in the Jetta or five people for a short trip. The jetta has a trunk. VW also has a nationwide dealer network that is not limited to a few major metropolitan areas. Granted the VW dealer network is a little suspect but it least it is there.
Reliability on both the Smart and the Jetta is questionable.
