Chevy Silverado hybrid gets official with the EPA 21mpg city/22mpg hwy {Autoblog Green}
Jul 18th 2008 3:42PM This is a substantial improvement for folks who need a truck. My F150 gets about 15 on the highway. Too bad it'll most likely cost twice as much as a gas-engined equivalent, meaning it'll take years to make up the difference.
Al Gore calls for electric cars {Autoblog Green}
Jul 17th 2008 9:30PM Until I can get a non-$100,000 electric car that has the range of a gasoline powered car, at LEAST 300 miles, a pure electric is simply not an option. Range extension is an absolute necessity. Not everyone lives in the city.
Volkswagen prices 2009 Jetta TDI from $21,990 {Autoblog}
Jun 18th 2008 8:25PM You'd think that. But I see Priuses hurtling along the highway at 70-80mph every day on my 48 mile (one-way) commute. They seem to stay with traffic just fine.
Volkswagen prices 2009 Jetta TDI from $21,990 {Autoblog}
Jun 18th 2008 5:34PM Prius starts at $21,500 and takes regular gas, a station near me has regular for $3.98, and gets 48/45 MPG EPA.
Jetta TDI starts at $21,990 and takes diesel, which that same station sells for $4.90, and gets 38/44 MPG (not EPA).
This means the Jetta costs 12.8/11 cents per mile, while the Prius costs 8.2/8.8 cents per mile.
The Prius is still a better choice, but only because Diesel is so much more expensive than regular gas.
Volkswagen debuts zero-emission Tiguan HyMotion in the U.S. {Autoblog}
Jun 13th 2008 4:48PM Only if diesel prices start dropping. At 80-90 cents per gallon more than regular, you have to have a pretty substantial improvement in fuel economy to make up for the difference in fuel alone. Unless the Tig takes premium, which is much closer in price.

Jun 13th 2008 3:25PM I loved my New Beetle TDI when I had it, but with Diesel far more expensive than any grade of gasoline currently (saw it for $4.99/gallon this morning, while regular was 80 cents cheaper) I'm glad I don't have it any more.
Diesel is so much more expensive than regular gas that the increased fuel economy may not overcome the price difference.

Jun 5th 2008 7:36PM PLEASE bring this vehicle to other markets besides California! My commute is 49 miles each way and I'd buy the Aptera in a heartbeat. Come on, make it happen!

Jun 5th 2008 10:19AM Definitely Maryland! I saw this thing tooling around Darnestown Road last night about 5:30 or so, just past the detour. Quite the coincidence! :)
