Motorcycle crash on "The Dragon" causes wildfire {Autoblog}
Apr 18th 2008 5:50PM I think this is actually supposed to be the weekend for the national MINI Take on the Dragon event... Perhaps Gabe over at MotoringFile has the scoop.
Officially Official: Opel Insignia revealed {Autoblog}
Apr 17th 2008 10:49PM Slap the series-hybrid powertrain from the Volt in here, and I'm sold... Could I get that by 2010? Pretty please???
The Word from On High: "No Audi R4 for you!" {Autoblog}
Mar 31st 2008 8:56AM As an Audi fan I love the idea of the R4 (the renderings look tasty) -- but I'm not really sure there's room between the TT and the A5 for something like that... After all doesn't the TT already compete with the Boxster (especially the TT-S)? It may not be mid-engined -- but it does offer similar power in a 2-seat roadster. Before everyone jumps all over me, let me say that I recognize that the Boxster is something very different than the TT... But if I was in the market for 2-seat roadsters I would certainly consider them in the same pool (along with the Z4). And frankly I'd probably end up with the TT because it uses less gas (gotta love that turbo 4 -- until I can get my hands on a TDI) and costs far less to maintain.
Euro Accord Tourer wins Red Dot Award for design {Autoblog}
Mar 27th 2008 7:30AM Why-oh-why don't Americans like wagons? This is absolutely the best-looking version of the TSX/Euro Accord -- and it's more useful to boot! Are we sure the focus groups are telling the truth? Maybe everyone truly harbors a secret love for wagons, but they're too embarrassed to admit the truth. I say to America: Stand up! You're not alone! I too love the wagon!
Euro Accord Tourer wins Red Dot Award for design {Autoblog}
Mar 27th 2008 7:26AM Other than the grille, how exactly are the new TSX and Euro-spec Accord different? I merely glanced at both galleries, but I think the differences must be fairly subtle -- they certainly don't jump out at me. Granted the new Acura grille is fairly hideous -- but I'm not sure that alone is enough of a reason to praise the Accord but slam the TSX: "It's amazing that an award-winning design as classy and elegantly understated as that of the European Accord could share so much in common with the polarizing lines of the redesigned 2009 Acura TSX."
Audi announces the 44mpg TT 2.0 TDI quattro {Autoblog}
Feb 27th 2008 5:22PM Please, please, please bring this to the US! I currently drive an A3 and am seriously considering a TT cabrio for my next car -- but I'd prefer something with a little better fuel economy. I've been thinking about a Cooper S convertible instead -- not because I think they're necessarily comprable cars, but because I'd like to get something that got in the 40+mpg range... I would be all over a TT diesel!
Rumormill: Leno or Seinfeld could host NBC Top Gear {Autoblog}
Jan 31st 2008 3:57PM You know -- Adam Corrola is actually the first person who came to mind for me, too... I think TG is certainly spiritually closer to "The Man Show" than it is to anything Seinfeld or Leno have ever done.
Rumormill: Leno or Seinfeld could host NBC Top Gear {Autoblog}
Jan 31st 2008 3:53PM Actually I love the US version of "The Office" -- it was the US "Coupling" that sucked... ;-) I just think there are some truly great and uniquely British shows that simply can't be translated for American TV. TG is as much about the attitude as it is the cars. I don't think you can make a US "Top Gear" any more than you could make a US version of "Monty Python." You could try, but it would suck (and it would be called "Saturday Night Live"). I can already watch TG on BBC America -- why would I bother to watch a watered-down, commercialized version on NBC without all the swearing? You can't cut out the swearing! It's the whole show! :-)
Rumormill: Leno or Seinfeld could host NBC Top Gear {Autoblog}
Jan 31st 2008 8:42AM Wow -- that sounds horrible... I can't imagine Top Gear without Clarkson or Hammond. I predict this is gonna be more like "Coupling" than "The Office" for NBC. Some things just don't translate.
Audi exec wants to bring A1 Stateside {Autoblog}
Nov 7th 2007 7:10PM If you're listening Audi, I would totally buy this car... I've owned two MINIs (one hard top, one convertible) and I love that the A1 concept offers a stylish, modern take on the premium compact -- without delving into the me-too retro look that's starting to feel a little tired. I am currently driving an '07 A3. It's one of the best cars I've ever owned. After a decade of driving mostly BMW produts (E30 and E46 convertibles and the aforementioned MINIs), I am thoroughy won over to Audi.
